Gameplay
In combat, you switch between running, jumping, sliding and taking cover. Enemies drop different weapons that you can use in new situations. Anyone relying only on sustained fire will quickly come under pressure. The levels reward movement, targeted attacks and making use of brief safe moments.

DLCs and expansions
The original Huntdown soundtrack is sold separately on Steam. Huntdown: Overtime, by contrast, tells its own prequel story about John Sawyer. The prequel launched on May 7, 2026 in PC early access and uses roguelite progression with cybernetic upgrades that can be unlocked permanently. It is not a DLC for the original Huntdown.

Three bounty hunters to choose from
Anna Conda is a former soldier, John Sawyer is a battle-hardened cop with cybernetic replacement parts, and Mow Man is a converted reconnaissance robot. You choose one of these characters for the mission. Their different backgrounds give the city's harsh action humour a face.

Four gangs and twenty levels
The story runs through 20 levels with gang bosses. The Hoodlum Dolls, Misconducts, Heatseekers and NO.1 Suspects control different parts of the city. Each group has its own characters and fight scenarios. Between street canyons, rooftops and interiors, cover options and attack routes change.

Play solo or with a friend
Huntdown supports local co-op for two players. On Steam, this mode can also be used with a second person over the internet via Remote Play Together. This sets the technical PC feature apart from a standalone online co-op mode with a separate server structure.

Arcade mode with score chasing
The arcade mode, added in 2021, scores missions by points and time. Multiple kills, fast weapon swaps and risky moves can raise your score. On Steam, you can compare results on leaderboards. The regular mission levels remain as a separate game mode.

Pixel art and synth soundtrack
Hand-drawn, 16-bit-inspired characters move through neon streets and gloomy industrial areas. Exaggerated animations, dry dialogue and electronic music quote action movies and 1980s arcade machines. The style stays easy to read even during fast fights, because enemies and cover are clearly separated from each other.

Smartphone versions
The iOS and Android versions were released on May 26, 2021. They initially offer a free playable trial, which can then be fully unlocked. The developer also mentions controller support. On Apple devices, iCloud and Game Center features are available.
