Renovating the old country house
Renovation starts with simple tasks and grows with the materials available. The garden is laid out and the house is expanded into a usable shelter. Many tasks overlap, because your own plot provides both food and raw materials.

Fields and self-sufficiency
Rice and other crops are part of daily life. The ingredients you grow go into meals and preserved food. Farming is therefore not an isolated mini-task, but the foundation of the household.

Cooking and traditional ingredients
You can prepare dishes in the kitchen or at the traditional fireplace. Salt, soy sauce and miso also have to be gathered or made yourself. This ties gathering and farming to everyday Japanese life.

A village through the seasons
In spring, cherry trees bloom, in summer village festivals take place, in autumn sweet potatoes are roasted, and in winter temple bells ring. Some activities and events depend on the calendar, the time of day or the specific location.

Villagers and rebuilding
Conversations and tasks make the village gradually more accessible. An old water mill can be repaired, and a closed sweet shop can reopen. Helping the neighbourhood brings items and opens up additional places.
