What is Laica?

Laica is a science fiction survival horror game in first person. It is set on the HOME residential station drifting in space. The player spends time there with the station resident Laica, while dangerous areas outside are explored.

The game relies on the contrast between a calm return to HOME and the eerie exploration trips. The transition between these two areas is a central part of the story.

Daily life on the HOME space station

HOME is more than a backdrop for cutscenes. Conversations, shared meals, listening to music and moments in zero gravity take place there. According to the developers, these encounters change how the relationship with the title character develops.

The familiar setting does not stay unchanged, however: events from the exploration sections increasingly spill over onto HOME.

Progress comes from switching between exploration and everyday scenes. Events on HOME also change over the course of the story.
