Lightyear Frontier

Lightyear Frontier is an open-world farming simulation by FRAME BREAK. On an alien planet, you build your own farm with a customizable mech, tend fields, gather resources and explore new regions.

Farming, crafting and upgrading the mech all interlock. Lightyear Frontier can be played alone or together in online co-op.

Lightyear Frontier entered Early Access on Mar 19, 2024. The full version 1.0 releases on Nov 4, 2026 for PC and Xbox Series X|S.

Lightyear Frontier is available for PC and Xbox Series X|S. On PC, the game is available through Steam and the Microsoft Store.

With the mech, you tend fields, gather raw materials, build structures and explore new regions. The game supports single player and online co-op.

For Lightyear Frontier there is, among other things, the Pioneer's Bundle with cosmetic customization for the mech, as well as a separately available soundtrack. This additional content does not change the core progression, but adds visual personalization and the music release for the game.

For the PC version, Steam lists as minimum Windows 10, 12 GB RAM, an Intel Core i3-4170 or AMD Ryzen 5 1500X, and a GeForce GTX 1050 or Radeon RX 460. Recommended are 16 GB RAM, an Intel Core i7-4790K or Ryzen 5 3600, and a Radeon RX 6600 or GeForce GTX 1660 Ti.

Lightyear Frontier takes place on a vast alien planet whose regions can be freely explored with the mech. Between fields and building sites lie natural resources, varied biomes and traces of a former civilization. Exploration not only provides materials but also opens up new places and progression options for the farm.

The farm combines classic field farming with resource gathering and crafting. Seeds are sown, plants are watered and harvested, while collected materials flow into buildings, production chains and expansions. New tools and infrastructure gradually widen what the farm can achieve.

The mech is a tool, vehicle and central progression hub all in one. Different modules cover tasks such as planting, watering, harvesting, resource gathering and construction. Upgrades increase range and efficiency and make previously laborious work increasingly automated or faster to complete.

Lightyear Frontier can be played alone or online with up to four players. In co-op, players share the work on the farm and planet, can build and explore together, and use their mechs for different tasks. The game supports cross-platform multiplayer between the available PC and Xbox versions.

Since the Early Access launch in March 2024, Lightyear Frontier has been expanded and balanced through updates. Version 1.0 releases on Nov 4, 2026 and marks the move from development into the full game. The path there includes adjustments to progression, balance and the long-term flow of farm building, among other things.
