What is My Friendly Neighborhood?

My Friendly Neighborhood is a survival horror game told from a first-person perspective by John and Evan Szymanski. Repair technician Gordon is sent into a disused TV studio after the former children's show The Friendly Neighborhood unexpectedly goes back on air. In the studio he meets hostile puppets, explores interconnected areas and tries to find out why the production is active again.

The game deliberately focuses on tension, resource scarcity, exploration and puzzles rather than gore.

Gameplay

The studio is laid out nonlinearly and is explored using a map. Enemies do not stay permanently disabled, so positioning and resource management remain important. Puzzles, locked paths and different studio areas structure your progress. The inventory works with a real-time grid in which items and ammunition must be organised.

Inventory and unusual weapons

The real-time inventory uses a grid in which equipment must be organised. Among the standout weapons is the Rolodexer, which uses letters as ammunition. These systems combine resource management with the game's puppet-TV theme.

Puzzles and studio exploration

The individual areas of the TV studio differ significantly from one another and are connected through puzzles, shortcuts and locked passages. DreadXP names Ray's Workshop and stylised cardboard sets, among others, as permanent locations.
