over the hill was released on PC on Steam on Oct 14, 2026. Versions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 are announced for 2027.

The game has been released on PC via Steam, where Windows and SteamOS/Linux are listed. PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 are set to get their own versions in 2027.

The announced console versions are not simply backward-compatible versions of earlier generations.

Routes take shape as you explore: players drive along narrow paths, through forests and hilly terrain, or leave paved tracks. What matters is choosing a sensible route and dealing with obstacles, not a fast finish.

If you get stuck, you can use terrain and vehicle equipment to get moving again. Open exploration leaves room for detours and viewpoints.

On Windows, Steam lists these minimum requirements: Windows 10, an Intel Core i5-7400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600, 8 GB RAM, a GeForce GTX 1070 or Radeon RX 5600, and 4 GB of free storage. A broadband connection is also listed.

The game doesn't require every drive to be a race. Breaks at the campfire are also part of exploring together.

Missions unlock new vehicles, upgrades and customization options. Once you complete all objectives in an area, you can discover further routes and options.

Progress mainly expands the options for later exploration drives. Free driving remains an important part of the game.

A photo mode lets you capture the landscapes and vehicles. If you don't want to keep driving, you can take a break at the campfire with your fellow players.

These features complement the relaxed exploration approach and make discovering the surroundings worthwhile even outside of missions.
