PAYDAY: Aces High

PAYDAY: Aces High is a standalone VR co-op shooter for up to four players. A specialized crew plans heists on banks, museums and the penthouse of a powerful adversary. The title is set in the PAYDAY universe but was developed by Fast Travel Games specifically for virtual reality.

The focus is on shared preparation, suitable equipment and switching between low-key tactics and open firefights. If you want to play without company, you can also go solo on PC, according to Steam.

PAYDAY: Aces High releases on Nov 5, 2026. The date applies to the PC VR version on Steam and the Meta Quest version. Fast Travel Games develops and publishes the game in collaboration with PAYDAY trademark owner Starbreeze Entertainment.

The VR spin-off is a standalone game. It requires neither PAYDAY 2 nor PAYDAY 3 and features its own crew of robbers.

PAYDAY: Aces High is released natively for Meta Quest and as a PC VR game on Steam. According to Steam, the PC version supports Valve Index, OpenXR, Oculus Rift S and Quest headsets via Link, among others. Steam Frame is also named among the listed VR supports.

A compatible VR headset is required. The PC version is not a conventional shooter for monitor and controller. Steam lists cross-platform multiplayer, so groups do not have to be limited to the same VR store.

In PAYDAY: Aces High, the group sizes up the surroundings and the guards before every heist. Whoever watches cameras, security forces and escape routes can try to reach the target unnoticed. Once the alarm is triggered, the quiet break-in turns into an armed fight.

The virtual space is central to the gameplay: weapons are held in your hands, and stolen loot must be brought to safety together. Alongside firearms, special devices are available that let you combine different approaches.

For PAYDAY: Aces High, Steam lists at least Windows 10 64-bit, 12 GB RAM and 10 GB free storage. The listed processor is an Intel Core i5-7500 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600, and the graphics card is a GeForce GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 580 with 6 GB of video memory.

A supported VR headset is also required. On Steam, Valve Index, Quest via Link, Oculus Rift S, OpenXR and Steam Frame are listed in the VR support details. The requirements refer to the PC version and not to the standalone Quest app.

The four playable Aces take on different tasks in the team. Ace of Hearts is the Mastermind and supports with abilities for team cohesion, healing, assault rifles and movement. Ace of Diamonds, as the Technician, specializes in submachine guns and deployable weapons.

Enforcer Ace of Spades brings shotguns, grenades and explosives to the team. Ace of Clubs works as a Ghost with stealth, hacking and handguns. The roles create clear focal points, while personal equipment can also be adjusted.

Up to four people can play heists together. In co-op they split roles, coordinate their routes and must react quickly when an alarm goes off unexpectedly. According to the Store, the Steam version also supports solo play and cross-platform multiplayer.

Communication is especially important in VR: positions, lines of sight and weapon movements are visible right away in the room. A shared session therefore requires more coordination than simply moving characters around a map.

Your gear can be built from firearms, special devices and unlocked abilities. The choice includes assault rifles, submachine guns, shotguns and pistols. Grappling hooks and deployable turrets open up additional options.

Loot and reputation earned unlock further skills and equipment. This lets you develop the personal strengths of the four Aces over the course of the game.

The Aces want revenge on the entrepreneur Warren Jupiter. He tricked the four robbers and had them locked up. Now they are going after his possessions instead of simply taking on ordinary jobs again.

The announced locations include banks, museums and a particularly well-secured penthouse. The story provides the framework for heists where planning and improvised decisions take center stage.
