Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero

Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero combines turn-based battles without a rigid tile grid with unusual spirit abilities. You lead Marona through the island world of Ivoire and form a group of Phantoms, whose strength depends on abilities, items and smart positioning.

Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero was released on Jan 30, 2025 for PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch. The PC version followed on Apr 24, 2025 via Steam.

The game was released natively for PC, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch. The PC version supports mouse and keyboard, high resolutions and ultrawide aspect ratios. The Switch version is backward compatible on Switch 2, without being a standalone Switch 2 release.

In battle you move characters freely across the arena within their range. You can pick up objects, throw enemies and use the height differences of the environment. Choosing your position is just as important as the type of attack.

The game includes six additional stories, including Heroes of the Past, Parallel Siblings and The Wandering Pirate. The Deluxe and Ultimate Editions bundle various stories and digital extras. The base game is still sold separately.

The PC version requires at least Windows 10 or 11 64-bit, an Intel Core i3-10100, 4 GB RAM, a GeForce GT 1030 and 6 GB free storage. Recommended are a Core i5-12400, 8 GB RAM and a GTX 1650.

Marona helps people and spirits on her journey through Ivoire. When the Shipwreck Fleet separates her from her longtime friend Ash, she searches with Apricot for the crew that once defeated the ghost ships.

Marona has the rare ability to speak with departed souls. Her trusted Phantom companion Ash disappears during the attack of the Ghost Fleet. Apricot then joins Marona and supports the search for her friend.

With Confine you bind a Phantom to an object on the battlefield. Whether it is a tree, a stone or another object also affects its combat traits. The environment thus becomes part of your team build.

Confire links Phantoms with special gadgets. These combinations deliver especially powerful attacks, but they need proper preparation and positioning. They complement the usual summons bound to objects.

Confriend lets Marona take a friendly Phantom into herself. She takes on a changed form and gains new special actions. Which benefits arise depends on the spirit in question.

More than 50 unit types are available to form a group. Differences in abilities and roles can be combined with equipment and the spirit systems. This lets you build a balanced team or highly specialized fighters.

You build your team by unlocking new abilities, better items and additional Phantoms. Because objects on the battlefield affect the summoned spirits, the options stay varied even with stronger characters.

Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero is designed for one player. The European PlayStation versions offer English and French on-screen text and English or Japanese voice audio. On Steam, Japanese is added as a text language. There is no German text version.
