What is REMATCH?

REMATCH is a competitive online football game from Sloclap. Instead of controlling a whole team, each player controls exactly one footballer on the pitch. The camera sits directly behind your own character, and passes, tackles, dribbles and shots are performed from a third-person perspective.

The base game is built around 5-vs-5 and does without individual player stats. What counts is positioning, timing, precision and teamwork.

Gameplay

The game combines credible football movement with a clear arcade approach. REMATCH has no fouls, no offside and no classic game stoppages. As a result, the ball stays in play as much as possible.

Players tackle, dribble, aim and shoot themselves. Sloclap describes the system as easy to access but designed around quick reactions, accuracy and teamwork.

Online, rankings and seasons

REMATCH was built from the ground up as an online team game. Alongside competitive modes and leagues, it uses a seasonal model: new seasons can bring additional game modes and cosmetic content. This live-service structure is a permanent part of the game; individual balance changes and hotfixes, on the other hand, remain news topics.

Player progress, contracts and badges

With Season 6, Sloclap replaces the previous player level with a contract system of ten tiers, from Baller to Icon. Experience points from completed matches fill contract levels. Moving to the next contract requires, in addition to the maximum level of the previous contract, matching badges upgraded through actions on the pitch.

Badges are grouped by playstyle, such as Goalkeeper or Attack. When a contract's slots are filled with one category, archetypes are created and player titles can be unlocked on completion. Higher contract levels grant Blocks, the reward currency used in the game. According to the studio, no final level cap is planned after reaching Icon.

The ranked list will require the Amateur contract going forward. Players who reached at least player level 5 before the change should start Season 6 with the Amateur contract already unlocked. Sloclap still labels the contract screen shown as a work in progress.
