Gameplay
Enemies attack at the same time and force precise timing. Dodging, parrying, strikes and combos interlock, while positioning and the environment are just as important as the techniques themselves. Thrown objects, improvised weapons, windows and ledges can be used in fights. The fighting style is based on Pak Mei Kung Fu.

Death and aging
A central feature is the protagonist's magical amulet. After a defeat, the character can return, but ages in the process. As a result, Sifu combines repeated learning with a visible price for mistakes. Progress comes not only from unlocked abilities, but above all from mastering opponents, movements and reaction windows.

Arenas
With the free Arenas expansion, Sifu received additional completed combat areas and challenges. The first Arenas expansion stage brought five modes, including Capture, Performance, Survival, Time Attack and Manhunt. Sloclap concluded regular content updates in 2023 with a final content update.

Sifu on iPhone and Android
The mobile version keeps the full story campaign and the familiar combat system: in melee fights, parries, dodges, positioning and using objects in the environment count. The amulet brings the character back after death, but ages them in the process.
For smaller displays, touch controls, context-sensitive interactions and camera controls have been adapted. External controllers are fully supported. The German App Store listing gives a 2.1 GB app size for the iOS version, English as the listed language and iOS or iPadOS 18 as the minimum version. The Google Play listing has its own device compatibility check; an identical minimum Android version is therefore not confirmed.
The description of the mobile version confirms the story campaign, but does not explicitly confirm all the additional modes of the older console and PC versions. In particular, the separate Arenas expansion should therefore not be promised for mobile devices without its own evidence.
