Resonance of Fate / End of Eternity 4K/HD Edition

Resonance of Fate 4K/HD Edition is the reworked version of the Japanese role-playing game by tri-Ace from 2010. The story takes place on an almost uninhabitable Earth. Vashyron, Zephyr and Leanne earn their living as mercenaries in the vast tower city of Basel. Instead of swords and spells, firearms and acrobatic group attacks define the battles.

Resonance of Fate was originally released in 2010 for PS3 and Xbox 360. The 4K/HD Edition launched on Oct 17, 2018 on PC and on Oct 24, 2018 on the German PlayStation Store for PS4. Enhanced Remaster was released on Oct 29, 2026 as a PC add-on on Steam. A standalone PS5 version was released on Oct 30, 2026 on the Japanese PlayStation Store.

The 4K/HD Edition was released natively for PC and PS4. The PS4 version is backward compatible on PS5. This differs from the standalone PS5 version of Enhanced Remaster, which was released on Oct 30, 2026 on the Japanese PlayStation Store. On PC, Enhanced Remaster is instead an add-on pack that requires the 4K/HD Edition on Steam.

Resonance of Fate combines tactical planning with fast-moving gunfights. You position Vashyron, Zephyr and Leanne on the battlefield and use their attack paths to pin down enemies. Battles rely on coordinated movement and timing rather than the usual attack menus of a classic role-playing game.

On PC, the High Resolution Texture Pack and Enhanced Remaster are available as add-ons to the 4K/HD Edition. Enhanced Remaster adds, among other things, HDR, native 4K output, up to 120 FPS and double game speed. On PS5, Enhanced Remaster was instead released as a standalone native version.

According to Steam, the 4K/HD Edition requires at least an Intel Core i3-2100 or AMD A8-6500, 2 GB RAM, a GeForce GT 630 or Radeon R7 250, and 16 GB storage. For Enhanced Remaster, Windows 11 and DirectX 12 are listed, with a minimum graphics card of GeForce GTX 650 Ti or Radeon HD 7770.

The Earth has become almost uninhabitable due to environmental toxins. The survivors built Basel, a machine that regulates the environment and the human life cycle. Inside the ever-ageing construct lives a society whose fate is tied to the state of the machine.

Three mercenaries are at the centre of the story: Vashyron leads the small team, Zephyr carries a difficult past and Leanne looks for her own place in the world. Between missions and encounters, their relationships develop further.

The equipment revolves around handguns that can be changed with components. Your choice of weapons and their modifications affect your tactics in battle. The difference between a well-prepared combination and a rushed attack is decisive.

In combat, you can coordinate attack routes and the positions of the three main characters. Smart movement opens up chances for joint attacks, while unprotected positions can quickly put the team under pressure.

The areas of Basel are opened up via a world map, where you unlock new tiles using matching energy cells. Progress therefore depends not only on fights, but also on how you plan your route through the different levels.

The mercenary team takes on missions and explores the different districts of Basel. Alongside the main story, additional missions bring more fights and opportunities to upgrade your equipment.

The remaster reworks the technical presentation of the original game and supports high-resolution output on suitable hardware. The characters, environments and acrobatic gunfights remain part of the same story and the same combat system.

Enhanced Remaster offers native 4K output, HDR and upscaled character and environment textures. For the PC version, tri-Ace also lists up to 120 frames per second and an option for double game speed. On Steam, the 4K/HD Edition is required as the base game. For PS5, Enhanced Remaster is available as a standalone version.

The 4K/HD Edition offers German on-screen text and subtitles. The voices are available in English and Japanese. With Enhanced Remaster, Steam also lists Simplified and Traditional Chinese and Korean among the supported on-screen languages.
