RIDE 5

RIDE 5 is a motorcycle racing simulator from Milestone. On real and virtual circuits, riders compete in career events, time trials, long-distance races and multiplayer duels. The game places a strong focus on motorcycle physics, tyre behaviour, weather changes and machine setup.

The focus is on more than 200 career events, ten rival riders and options to customise motorcycles, helmets and racing suits. RIDE 5 came out for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

RIDE 5 came out on Aug 24, 2023 for PC. The German PlayStation and Xbox stores list Aug 23, 2023 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.

The Special Edition gave early access from Aug 21, 2023. It differs from the base game through additional content and the Season Pass.

RIDE 5 is available natively for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. On PC, Steam and the Epic Games Store sell the game. There is no standalone PS4 or Xbox One version.

In online multiplayer, PS5 and Xbox Series riders compete in shared lobbies. On PC, the connection between Steam and Epic works. Milestone does not list a shared cross-platform lobby between these two groups.

While riding, the motorcycle's setup, tyre wear, braking and steering behaviour, and the track all affect the race. Milestone has further developed the suspension and the physical interaction between rider and machine. Various rider aids help with braking, turning in, accelerating and finding the ideal line.

Alongside classic races and time trials, there are long-distance events that can last up to 24 hours. RIDE 5 lets you save these races mid-ride and offers a rewind function.

Additional motorcycle and gear packs were released for RIDE 5, including Rebel Pack, Far East Pack and several other add-on packs. The Season Pass bundles selected expansions. Additional packs are not the same as a new base game version.

The Special Edition includes the base game, the Season Pass and other named content. Not every package sold separately is part of this edition. To use the additional content, you need the main game on the same platform.

On Windows, RIDE 5 requires a 64-bit system, DirectX 11 and 50 GB of free storage space. For the minimum configuration, Steam lists an Intel Core i3-10100 or AMD FX-8350, 8 GB RAM and a GeForce GTX 1650 or Radeon RX 570.

For the recommended configuration, Steam lists an Intel Core i7-10700 or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, 16 GB RAM and a GeForce RTX 2080 or Radeon RX 6600 XT.

The career mode includes more than 200 events and ten rivals with different profiles. A narrator guides you through the climb via championships, single races and time trials. The competitions are divided into four larger sections.

The main career route runs through the regular tasks. Additional competitions offer tougher challenges and further ways to progress. As your career progresses, your own workshop also develops.

The Dynamic Weather System calculates changes in air and asphalt temperatures during races. Clouds, lighting and time of day are shown by a three-dimensional sky system. Rain and temperature changes can affect how a race unfolds.

The interaction of weather effects with tyre wear and riding physics means that a proven setup does not work equally well in all conditions.

RIDE 5 offers online races with up to twelve participants and a local split-screen mode for two players. The console versions on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S support shared online lobbies, while Steam and Epic Games Store are linked on PC.

There are also leaderboards and the option to share your own designs with others. Online features depend on the requirements of each platform.

With the Race Creator you can build your own race events and championships. You can set tracks, permitted motorcycle classes, scoring rules and other parameters. AI opponents can also be added to your own competition.

This mode adds freely configurable competitions to the fixed career events.

RIDE 5 offers editors for designing motorcycles, race suits and helmets. Alongside appearance, the technical setup of the bikes for the track and conditions also plays a role.

Your own designs can be shared with other players. The design options can be used independently of the main story.

Endurance events range from short long-distance races to 24-hour races. Progress can be saved during such a race, so you can continue a ride later. The rewind function also gives you more control over longer sessions.

The PC version offers a German user interface. Steam also lists English, French, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese and several Asian languages. A full German voice track is not listed on the PC store.

Braking, steering and acceleration aids can be adjusted to different levels of experience. A displayed ideal line helps you find the right speed and corner entry. The riding aids make it easier to get started without replacing the technical setup options of the motorcycles.
