What is SILENT HILL: Townfall?

SILENT HILL: Townfall is a standalone first-person psychological horror game from Screen Burn Interactive. It centers on Simon Ordell, who returns to the remote Scottish island of St. Amelia and encounters a fog-shrouded community whose past is closely tied to his own.

Instead of a classic radio, Simon carries a CRTV, a small television that picks up unstable signals. The device helps track down dangers, solve puzzles and piece together the fragmented story. Townfall combines exploration, escape, limited combat and narrative puzzles into a compact, standalone Silent Hill chapter.

Gameplay

Townfall is played entirely from the first-person perspective. Simon explores St. Amelia, evades creatures and uses a limited selection of melee and ranged weapons. The CRTV expands the classic Silent Hill radio idea: its signals can locate monsters, reveal clues and decode puzzles.

Stealth plays a bigger role here than in many earlier series entries. Enemies can be watched from cover or diverted with noises. On the TGS 2026 stage, KONAMI also showed in around 50 minutes of live gameplay that Simon can hide in sheds and wardrobes, among other places. The combat shown felt deliberately demanding and made clear that dodging and sneaking are often the better option.

The extended TGS playthrough also showed the CRTV in actual gameplay: the device is not only a warning system but is actively used for puzzles and for navigating St. Amelia. According to series producer Motoi Okamoto, the town is modeled on a real Scottish village, whose believable everyday architecture deliberately contrasts with the surreal events.

The story also responds to playstyle. Townfall has several endings, and which one you get is shaped by your decisions and behavior during the playthrough. On PS5, 3D audio, haptic feedback, adaptive triggers and motion controls enhance the close first-person perspective. Ray tracing supports the switch between the foggy town and the red-tinted Otherworld.

Cast and music

In the English version, Jovan Adepo voices the protagonist Simon Ordell. Terry O’Quinn takes on the role of Richard, whose voice calls Simon back to St. Amelia, while Kezia Burrows voices Zoe, who contacts him via the CRTV.

The music comes from Anthony Scott Burns aka Pilotpriest. Screen Burn uses a dynamic audio system that adjusts music and soundscape to Simon's actions and the movements of enemies. This means sound is not just accompaniment, but a lasting part of the tension control of the first-person horror.

Townfall is a standalone entry in the Silent Hill series. Screen Burn Interactive develops the game, and KONAMI and Annapurna Interactive publish it together. The project builds on core themes of the series such as psychological horror, loss, guilt and a town whose surroundings are closely tied to its characters' inner state, but tells these ideas from a first-person perspective and with the CRTV as its own core system.
