Smalland 2: Lost Realms

Smalland 2: Lost Realms is an open-world survival adventure in which you roam a seemingly gigantic nature as a member of the Smallfolk. You build camps, craft equipment, ally with creatures and explore foreign cultures. Up to ten players can play together.

The story takes place long before Smalland: Survive the Wilds and tells of an impending catastrophe in a world before the arrival of the giants.

Smalland 2: Lost Realms is expected to release in 2027. Maximum Entertainment has postponed the launch, originally announced for 2026, to further develop the survival adventure.

Smalland 2: Lost Realms is announced for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2. The PC version is set to launch on Steam and the Epic Games Store.

You roam wide landscapes, search for food and resources, craft weapons and armour, and fend off dangerous animals. The new gameplay trailer shows reworked processes for gathering, crafting and moving around.

The size of the environment changes everyday obstacles: a stream becomes a dangerous body of water, plants open up paths upward, and insects can become serious opponents.

For the PC version, Steam lists Windows 10 or newer, an Intel Core i5-9400 or comparable processor, a GeForce GTX 900 series graphics card and DirectX 12. Online multiplayer requires a broadband connection and sign-in via Epic Online Services.

The journey leads into a mythical past, long before the giants settled the world. Different regions have their own cultures, resources and dangers. The Smallfolk are meant to get to know the communities there and prevent a catastrophe foretold by the Elders.

Smalland 2 adds climbing and swimming to movement. You get over tall roots, rocks and trees and open up new routes across bodies of water. Stamina plays a role here. Currents can speed up your swimming.

Gathering materials is part of exploration. You collect wood, plants and other raw materials that later become tools, equipment or components. The gameplay trailer shows new processes for resource gathering.

Weapons, armour and other items are made from gathered materials. Maximum Entertainment has reworked crafting compared to the predecessor. Equipment supports survival, exploration and fights against dangerous creatures.

A new perk system expands the development of the Smallfolk. The first gameplay overview shows perks that let you tailor your character to different playstyles.

In the wild, you can tame animals and build bonds with them. Companions bring their own abilities and support you on your travels. This means your relationship with the animal world isn't reduced to fighting dangerous creatures.

You can set up camps, process resources and establish outposts between far-apart regions. Trade routes connect these settlements and make it easier to exchange with other communities. Building and providing for yourself is directly part of survival.

Smalland 2 supports online co-op for up to ten players. Together you can explore new regions, gather resources, build settlements and fight enemies. The PC version also lists cross-platform multiplayer.

Smalland 2 uses Unreal Engine 5. The technology is set to enable more detailed plant worlds, larger environments and more elaborate environmental effects. Controller support is announced for PC.

The PC version is announced with German menus and subtitles. The Steam Store also lists English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Korean, and Simplified and Traditional Chinese. Full German voice audio is not listed there.
