At the same time, heroes develop through experience, abilities and equipment they find. Exploration and quests alternate with large battles in which the heroes support their armies.

Story and campaign
The story connects personal decisions and the adventures of heroes with military conflicts in the fantasy world of SpellForce. In the larger locations, exploration and conversations lead to new tasks, while fights against enemy troops drive the plot forward.
Reforced reworked quest flows, skill trees and loot distribution. The campaign remains the centre of the mix of role-playing and real-time strategy.

Heroes, abilities and loot
Heroes gain experience and improve their talents as the game progresses. Attack and support abilities complement regular troops, especially against stronger enemies and in longer battles.
The Reforced version reworked the skill trees and loot distribution. As a result, character progression and army building are more closely linked.
