The Expanse: Osiris Reborn

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is a sci-fi action role-playing game by Owlcat Games set in the universe of the novel and TV series The Expanse. The story follows a mercenary from Pinkwater Security, whose stay on the asteroid Eros ends in a state of emergency.

As a custom-made captain, you take command of a spaceship. Combat, exploration and tough decisions determine how the crew holds together and what consequences the conflict has in the solar system.

Releasing in Q2 2027 for PC. Owlcat Games announces the launch on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S for spring 2027.

A playable beta has been available since April 22, 2026 for buyers of selected Founder packs. It includes an early section of the game and is not the full release.

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn is coming natively to PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. On PC, release via Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG has been announced.

The Xbox version supports Play Anywhere and is set to be available on Game Pass at launch. A standalone release for Xbox One has not been announced.

The combat system relies on third-person shootouts, cover and active abilities. Two companions fight alongside you, and other crew members can disrupt technical systems or distract enemies from a distance.

You give commands in real time during combat. Weapons and gear shape your approach instead of a fixed character class.

Owlcat Games offers several Founder packs and a Collector's Edition. They grant different digital extras and, with selected packs, access to the beta.

According to Steam, the PC version requires at least Windows 10.

The captain is a mercenary with Pinkwater Security. During a stay on Eros, a crisis breaks out that leads to the station being sealed off. The search for a way out develops into a conspiracy that affects the entire solar system.

As the story unfolds, the captain commands a ship and makes decisions that change the relationships and fate of the crew.

During character creation you choose between an origin on Earth, on Mars or from the asteroid belt. The origin affects how the character experiences political tensions and how they react to their surroundings in conversations.

The captain's appearance can be customized. The game offers different genders for the main character.

Crew members have their own goals, beliefs and conflicts. Conversations and decisions can build trust or strain relationships. The ship is therefore not just a means of transport, but the group's shared home.

Companions include J, the captain's twin. Both share their origins. J helps in combat with a shoulder cannon and can openly contradict the main character's decisions.

The journey leads to Ceres, Ganymede, Mars and Luna, among others. Each station has its own power structures, residents and tasks.

Low or zero gravity also plays a role in space flight and combat. The game world combines industrial outposts with inhabited stations and political centers.

Steam lists English voice-over and German, French, Spanish, Russian and Simplified Chinese on-screen text and subtitles. The English version also includes subtitles.

The Steam version partially supports a controller.

Owlcat Games develops and publishes The Expanse: Osiris Reborn. David Gaider, formerly heavily involved in the Dragon Age series, is reportedly contributing to certain narrative aspects, according to his own statement.

After feedback from the beta, Owlcat Games has reworked the default design of the male captain and his twin J. Blythe Melin voices these characters.

The beta has been available since April 22, 2026 for owners of Miller’s Pack or the Collector's Edition. It includes an early mission on Pinkwater 4, encounters with the crew, and combat and decisions.

The beta shows a limited part of the game. Owlcat Games notes that performance and features may not match the finished product.
