The Jackbox Party Starter

The Jackbox Party Starter brings together Quiplash 3, Trivia Murder Party 2 and Tee K.O. in one collection. The three games combine funny answers, quiz duels and drawings. All participants use their own smartphones or tablets to enter answers.

Released June 29, 2022 for PC, PS4 and PS5. Nintendo Switch as well as Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S followed on June 30, 2022. The collection contains newly localised versions of three previously released party games, with added features.

The collection is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The Steam version supports macOS and Linux as well as Windows. For answers, players use browser devices, while a main device shows the shared game screen.

You start one of the three games and show it on one screen for everyone. Others open Jackbox.tv on their smartphone, enter a room code and answer tasks or draw. Additional controllers are not required.

The collection contains three complete games: Quiplash 3, Trivia Murder Party 2 and Tee K.O. These are reworked versions of well-known Jackbox titles, not new rounds or paid expansions for the original Party Packs.

For Windows, Steam lists a minimum of a 2.66 GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 4 GB RAM, a GeForce 500 or Radeon 5000 and a broadband connection. A quad-core processor, 8 GB RAM and a GeForce 600 or Radeon 6000 are recommended. The Steam client now supports Windows 10 or newer.

In Quiplash 3, three to eight players answer unusual questions with the most original answers they can come up with. The group then votes on which answer wins. In the final Thriplash round, players even have to give three answers to a prompt.

Up to eight people answer questions in a grotesque horror quiz. Wrong answers lead to mini tasks in the so-called Killing Floor. The game combines classic knowledge questions with elimination rounds and unexpected special rules.

In Tee K.O., three to eight people create drawings and write short slogans. T-shirts are made from randomly combined images and texts, and the group votes on them. In head-to-head duels, the most popular design wins.

All three games can be played with German user interface, voice-over and subtitles. Jackbox has adapted the dialogue, tasks and other content for the German version. The collection also supports English, French, Italian, Spanish and Brazilian Portuguese, among others.

Subtitles, family-friendly settings, content filters and moderation are part of the collection. Especially with larger groups, unwanted answers can be controlled before they appear on the shared screen.

Depending on the game, one to eight people actively take part, while Quiplash 3 and Tee K.O. require three to eight active players. In addition, an audience of up to 10,000 people can vote in suitable rounds. According to Jackbox, each game round lasts about 15 minutes.

Friends who are far away can also take part if the main game screen, including sound, is shared via a video call or stream. Everyone enters their answers via the Jackbox website. On Steam, the collection also supports Remote Play Together.

Quiplash 3 offers pre-moderation, which lets you check answers before the group sees them. Filters against certain inappropriate wording add to this feature. This is especially handy for open or publicly streamed parties.

Since June 2024 the collection also includes a fully localised version in Brazilian Portuguese. This involved adapting questions, texts and voice-overs, among other things. The German version is still included.

The three games come from earlier Party Packs but have been reworked for this release. New additions include more language versions, updated settings menus, extra moderation options and improvements to entering answers and drawings.
