What is The Rogue Prince of Persia?

The Rogue Prince of Persia is a fast 2D action roguelite from Evil Empire and Ubisoft. The prince tries to save the city of Ctesiphon, threatened by possessed Huns. After each death, he returns through a mystical bola and begins a new run, but keeps long-term progress and knowledge of the world.

The full version of The Rogue Prince of Persia released on Aug 20, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 followed digitally on Dec 16, 2025.

On Sep 17, 2026, Evil Empire released the major Anniversary Update. A week later, the studio confirmed that this update is also the final content update for the game.

Gameplay

Each run combines procedurally varied paths with acrobatic parkour and real-time combat. The prince can run along walls, jump over enemies and link movement moves directly to attacks. Weapons, tools and medallions change builds and open up different synergies.

Between runs, the prince returns to the oasis. There, new options are unlocked, characters are met and long-term progress is prepared before the next attempt begins.

Ubisoft lists the minimum requirements as Windows 10 64-bit, an Intel Core i5-4460 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200, 8 GB RAM, a GeForce GTX 950 or Radeon RX 5500 XT, and 5 GB of free storage space.

Anniversary Update: the final content update

The Anniversary Update permanently expands the game with new Combat Zones featuring enemy waves, a Speedrun mode with a built-in timer, and the new freeze effect, which can slow or freeze enemies. It also adds new weapons and tools, reworks of the final palace area, adjustments to difficulty and game flow, and further quality-of-life changes.

Evil Empire confirmed on Sep 24, 2026 that this package remains the final content update. Two updates were originally planned; the main content of both plans was instead merged into the Anniversary Update.
