What is Towerborne?
Towerborne is a side-scrolling action RPG with fast melee combat, loot and a connected fantasy campaign. You take on an immortal Ace and defend Belfried, the last refuge of humanity. Behind the walls wait corrupted lands, monsters and the ruins of the city of Numbers.
Stoic combines the direct attacks and combos of a beat 'em up with classes, equipment and long-term character progression. The story can be played alone. Local and online co-op modes are available for shared battles.

Gameplay
Fights take place in side-view arenas. You chain attacks, dodge in eight directions and finish combos with different effects. Enemy groups demand movement, positioning and the right timing for counterattacks.
After missions, you collect new gear and power up your character. Rather than being tied to a fixed weapon choice, you can try different combat styles and switch class between missions.

Classes and skills
Four playable classes offer different attack chains and combat styles. Nothing is set in stone: between missions, you can switch to another class and redistribute skill points.
Through class mastery, you develop additional skills. Universal skills, once unlocked, can also be used in other classes. This way you can keep a familiar playstyle while testing new combinations.

Umbra as companions
Umbra support you in combat with their own special abilities. They complement your class with extra attacks and more tactical options. The full version includes 15 Umbra abilities.
Aspects change the effect of individual Umbra powers. This lets you decide not only your weapons and skills, but also how your companion joins in a combo.

Loot, forge and gear

Exploration and progress
The world map connects the individual adventures in Eld. As your progress grows, the danger level rises and new areas become visible. Alongside story missions, you'll find a coastal area, repeatable ventures and randomly assembled tasks in the Frontiers, among other things.
Completed missions remain accessible via the mission menu. This lets you collect extra loot or retry a challenge without having to start the story from the beginning.

Co-op: local and online
Up to four people can fight together online. On Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5, local co-op on one console is also possible. According to the official game information, the PC version offers online co-op.
The group follows the host's progress. Enemies scale to the group size, while level syncing lets characters at very different development levels fight together in missions. Online co-op works on the same platform and within the Xbox platform family. A general crossplay mode between PlayStation, Xbox and Steam has not been confirmed.
