Release
The Banner Saga 2 was released for PC on April 19, 2016. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions followed in July 2016, iOS and Android in September. The strategy game came out for Nintendo Switch on June 7, 2018.

The Banner Saga 2 was released natively for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android. The PC version is available on Steam for Windows and macOS. Gameplay
Battles take place turn by turn on tactical battlefields. Each character has their own abilities and must be positioned wisely. Expanded battle plans open up more tactical options than in the first part. Defeats can permanently weaken the travelling party.
Between battles, players keep leading their caravan. Conversations and encounters call for different decisions than combat does.

Supplying the caravan
On the journey, supplies, morale and the makeup of the caravan must be managed. Not every encounter ends in a fight. Decisions along the way can endanger your companions' survival or open up new opportunities.

Decisions from the first part
The Banner Saga 2 can carry over decisions from the previous game. Players who start without an old save get preset starting conditions instead. The consequences of conversations and encounters affect the rest of the journey.

New companions and the Horseborn
The Horseborn are among the new groups the caravan encounters in the second part. They join humans, Varl and other characters from the story so far. New characters open up different perspectives and tactical options.

The Survival Mode
Survival Mode is about surviving as many battles in a row as possible. On PC, according to Stoic, the mode is part of the game and does not require a separate purchase. For PS4, the PlayStation Store instead offers an additional survival mode as a standalone add-on.

Hand-drawn world and music
Drawn characters and animated battle scenes define the visual style of The Banner Saga 2. Austin Wintory composed the orchestral score. On PC, the soundtrack is also available as a separate purchase and is included in the Digital Deluxe Edition.
