Victor Vran

Victor Vran is an action RPG with an isometric perspective. The demon hunter of the same name travels to the cursed city of Zagoravia to search for a missing friend and to understand the origin of the evil. Along the way you explore winding areas and face monsters as well as larger boss enemies.

The focus is on active combat with dodges and jumps. Which weapons, outfits, fate cards and demon powers you combine determines your fighting style.

Victor Vran was released on Jul 24, 2015 for PC. The Xbox One version followed on May 30, 2017, and the German PS4 version on Jun 6, 2017. Nintendo Switch received the Overkill Edition on Aug 28, 2018.

On consoles, the content differs depending on the edition you choose. The Overkill Edition includes the main game and the two major expansions Fractured Worlds and Motörhead: Through the Ages.

Victor Vran is natively available for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. The PC version is also offered for Mac and Linux via Steam. On Xbox Series, the Xbox One version is playable. The PS4 version can also be played on PS5 through backward compatibility.

The Nintendo Switch version is called Overkill Edition and already includes both major expansions. It is not a standalone Switch 2 release.

In combat you dodge attacks, jump over obstacles and use different weapon skills. Hammers hit slowly and hard, while ranged weapons like the hand mortars fire explosive shells. Quick changes of position are just as important as your gear's stats.

Victor has no fixed character class. Through different weapons, outfits and powers, you can reshape your build over the course of the adventure and respond to dangerous enemies.

Fractured Worlds adds a new story, extra dungeons, talismans and a higher level cap to Victor Vran. Motörhead: Through the Ages leads into a self-contained adventure world inspired by the rock band, with special enemies, weapons and music.

Both expansions are part of the Overkill Edition. On PC and some consoles they are also available separately.

The Windows version requires at least a dual-core processor at 2 GHz, 4 GB RAM, a GeForce 8800 or comparable graphics card and 4 GB storage. The store lists a quad-core processor at 2.5 GHz, 8 GB RAM and a GeForce 560 or Radeon HD 5800 as the recommended setup.

Steam also offers macOS and Linux versions with their own technical requirements.

The story begins in Zagoravia, a city from which dispatched demon hunters never returned. Victor sets out to find a friend and runs into a threat that goes far beyond ordinary monsters.

New locations, characters and boss enemies lead him step by step deeper into the city's secret. The story provides the frame for exploration, loot and increasingly demanding fights.

Your fighting style depends heavily on the weapon you equip. Hammers deal heavy melee hits, mortars cover areas with projectiles, and lightning weapons can hit several enemies at once. Other weapon types add fast and long-range attacks.

Since every weapon brings its own skills, it pays to switch between gear sets. The timing of your dodges also decides heavy fights.

Outfits are more than clothing. They change defense, special attacks or how Victor gathers energy for his demon powers. Some versions increase the number of usable Fate Cards, others support a defensive build.

PlayStation 4 and Xbox One also have their own costume variants. Together with your weapons, you can set your own focus without starting a new character.

Fate Cards give Victor extra traits and bonuses. The cards you combine shape your build between high damage, defense and special effects. The number of available card slots is also an important feature.

Demon powers are activated with their own energy and add to your weapon arsenal through especially powerful actions. Gear and special abilities work together.

Victor Vran supports single-player and co-op play. On Nintendo Switch you can fight locally with one other person or online with up to four players. The console versions for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One also offer local co-op and online games for multiple players.

On PlayStation, online multiplayer requires a PlayStation Plus membership. The PC version also supports shared games and Steam Remote Play Together.

In the base game, enemies of varying strength, special attack patterns and boss fights demand constantly new gear decisions. Additional combat trials ensure the hunt for better loot doesn't end with the story.

The free Cauldron of Chaos adds a rotating dungeon for advanced characters. It should not be confused with the major add-on Fractured Worlds.

In Fractured Worlds, Victor searches for pieces of the Astrolabe in a world made of broken realities. Four rotating dungeons and the endless dungeon The Fracture add special challenges to the game.

The expansion raises the level cap from 50 to 60 and adds another Fate Card slot. Talismans can be crafted and charged to unleash extra effects in combat.

Motörhead: Through the Ages combines the demon hunting with motifs, music and characters from the band's history. Victor travels through three self-contained worlds and meets new enemies and bosses.

The expansion adds guitars and revolvers as weapons, new outfits and extra Fate Cards, among other things. It is a playable story add-on, not just a music pack.

The original Victor Vran includes the story of Zagoravia and the core combat system. The Overkill Edition additionally bundles Fractured Worlds and Motörhead: Through the Ages.

If you already own the base game, you can add the two major expansions separately on supported platforms. The Switch version is offered directly as the full Overkill bundle.

Victor Vran offers German text and German voice audio on Steam. English is also available with audio and subtitles. Other languages may only be available as the user interface and subtitles.

The German PlayStation Store version lists German and English for voice audio. On other platforms, language support depends on the specific version.
