Way of the Hunter 2

Way of the Hunter 2 is an open-world hunting simulation from Nine Rocks Games. The sequel features large regions, dynamic animal populations, realistic ballistics and an upgradable hunting base.

The PC version launched on March 26, 2026 in Steam Early Access. On September 29, 2026, Way of the Hunter 2 reaches version 1.0 and launches natively for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S at the same time.

Way of the Hunter 2 is natively available for Windows PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A PlayStation 4, Xbox One or Nintendo version has not been announced. The console versions launch with the full version 1.0.

The hunt is based on observation, tracking, wind, equipment and precise shot placement. The reworked shot review system analyses trajectory, speed, angle and hit location. High-quality optics, thermal imaging and various ammunition types expand preparation for different animal species and situations.

For the PC version, Steam lists at least Windows 11, a Ryzen 5 3600X or Core i5-9600K, 16 GB RAM and a GeForce RTX 2060 or Radeon RX 5600 XT. Recommended are a Ryzen 5 7600X or Core i5-14600K, along with an RTX 4060 Ti or Radeon RX 7600 XT. Around 38 GB of storage space is required.

The core includes large hunting areas in North America and Africa, as well as the area around the Hearth & Hunt headquarters in the Rocky Mountains. Animals react to their environment; populations and habitats are meant to be monitored and managed over the long term. In Africa, the fauna includes hippos, buffalo, lions and Nile crocodiles, among others.

A trainable hunting dog accompanies the player and can help with tracking and finding wounded animals. The hunting lodge serves as the central base: hunts are planned there, trophies are displayed and additional rooms or upgrades are unlocked.

Alongside single-player, Way of the Hunter 2 supports online co-op for up to four players. On Xbox, split-screen is also listed; the PS5 version likewise supports up to four online players.
