Ultima Underworld II: Labyrinth of Worlds returns the avatar to Britannia. During a feast at Lord British’s castle, the Guardian raises a mighty black crystal around the entire fortress. The inhabitants are trapped, food and water are running short, and the avatar must find a way to break the magical prison.
Eight worlds behind the crystal portals
Deep beneath the castle you find a second piece of Blackrock. Its facets open routes to eight different areas, including frozen caves, castles, towers and alien dimensions. Each world has its own enemies, secrets, mechanisms and characters you can talk to. Which tasks you tackle first and which paths you take is largely up to you.
First-person role-playing
As in its predecessor, you explore the environment directly through the avatar’s eyes. You fight with weapons and spells, manage equipment, gather clues and solve environmental puzzles. Moving floors, pressure-sensitive triggers and dangerous currents create new obstacles. Improved character animations and a larger viewport deepen the dungeon atmosphere. The special spells include Shockwave, Deadly Seeker and Poison Weapon.
The role-playing game was developed for PC in 1993 by Looking Glass Technologies and published by Origin Systems. Electronic Arts now distributes it via the EA app, among other platforms, and since Nov 5, 2026 also via Steam. GOG offers a DRM-free version maintained for modern Windows systems.
