Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories is set in 1984 in the bustling metropolis of Vice City. Former soldier Victor “Vic” Vance first tries to provide for his sick family. But shady military contacts, criminal gangs and his ambitious brother Lance draw him into a struggle for control of the streets. The story serves as a prequel to GTA: Vice City and shows the city two years before Tommy Vercetti’s arrival.
Open-world classic on PlayStation 2
On PS2, you drive through the sprawling city, take on action-packed story missions, engage in shootouts with rival gangs and build your own business empire through the Empire-Building-System. Businesses you take over can be run in different ways and must be defended against attacks. Along with cars and motorcycles, boats and helicopters are part of the vehicle fleet. Radio stations playing 1980s music shape the atmosphere.
Release and differences from the PSP
After the original 2006 PSP version, the native PlayStation 2 port was released on Mar 6, 2007 in North America and on Mar 9, 2007 in Europe. The home console version offers graphical improvements and additional side activities, including more stunt jumps and rampages. The PSP’s wireless multiplayer modes were not carried over to PS2: this edition is a single-player game. There is no Steam app for PS2, and therefore no legitimate PC key either.
