Ash of Gods: Redemption

Ash of Gods: Redemption combines a branching fantasy adventure with turn-based tactical battles and a card system. The choices of several main characters shape the story. Even the death of important characters does not necessarily end the adventure.

What is Ash of Gods: Redemption?

Ash of Gods: Redemption is a fantasy role-playing game with turn-based battles and choices that change the course of the story. Between battles, the game follows three characters whose paths cross against the backdrop of a recurring threat. Hand-drawn scenes and a card system shape the adventure's own style.

Gameplay

Battles take place in turns. Characters use their class abilities and move within a tactical battle environment. What matters is the makeup of the group, the timing of attacks and the use of limited resources.

Unlike many strategy games, Ash of Gods does not rely on random hit rolls in battle. Your chances of success depend on the abilities of those involved, their cards and your tactical decisions.

Three characters against the return of the Reapers

The story follows Captain Thorn Brenin, bodyguard Lo Pheng and scholar Hopper Rouley through a world where an ancient threat is becoming reality again. The Reapers want to awaken the sleeping gods. The three main characters pursue different goals and make decisions whose consequences reach beyond their own storylines.

Dialogue and travel decisions matter, because not every encounter ends with a clear good outcome. The story allows different developments instead of forcing all players through the same events.

Abilities and cards in battle

In addition to the characters' abilities, cards come into play. They are unlocked as the game progresses and can change a battle with additional effects. Because cards are limited, using them is especially worthwhile in difficult encounters.

A strong team alone is not always enough: different enemies require different strategies. Risky maneuvers that cost your own health points are also among the intended tactical options.

How much do decisions change the course of the game?

Conversations, travel routes and decisions in conflicts can affect later events. Some alternatives cost more resources, while others get you to the goal faster but expose the group to greater danger.

The changes don't only affect individual dialogue lines. The fate of important characters can differ, and the story continues on its path even after major losses.

What happens if a main character dies?

The death of an important character does not automatically mean the end of Ash of Gods: Redemption. The story continues and takes into account that this person is missing. This means earlier decisions can shape the later makeup of the group and the course of the story.

The possibility of such losses makes careful planning important. A shorter route or a risky battle decision can have long-term consequences.

Single player and PvP

The campaign tells its story as a single-player adventure. For the PC version, AurumDust also describes a separate PvP mode with unlockable characters, upgrades and cards. This mode is separate from the narrative campaign.

This does not show whether online opponents are available at any given time.

Hand-drawn art and animation

Ash of Gods: Redemption uses hand-drawn backgrounds and characters. Footage of real actors was also used for the animations. As a result, the game has a noticeably different look from classic fantasy RPGs with a fully three-dimensional game world.

The drawings mainly carry the conversations and narrative scenes, while the battles are built on clearly readable characters and tactical positions.

Redemption Reworked on iOS

With the Redemption Reworked update of Oct 28, 2025, the iOS version received a fundamentally reworked combat system. This includes a changed turn order, adjusted movement, new enemy AI, and reworked cards, abilities and items.

At the start, you can choose between the original gameplay and the reworked version. The iOS app has since also supported 60 instead of 30 frames per second. These changes should not automatically be understood as changes to the PC or console versions.
