What is Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced?

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is a remake built from scratch of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag from 2013. Once again, the focus is on Edward Kenway, who sails the Caribbean as a pirate at the start of the 18th century and is drawn into the conflict between Assassins and Templars.

Ubisoft Singapore is leading development. The remake uses the current Anvil engine and combines the familiar open world with rebuilt graphics, ray tracing, revised water, dynamic weather and additional story content.

Gameplay

The core remains a mix of open-world exploration, parkour, stealth, melee combat and naval battles. Edward can upgrade the Jackdaw, fire on, board and sink enemy ships, while on land, assassinations, chases and direct fights take centre stage.

Resynced modernises several systems from the original. The combat system places more emphasis on parries and new takedowns, Edward can freely crouch in stealth sections, and chase missions have been made more flexible. On the Jackdaw, you can deploy new officers, each bringing their own abilities for naval battles.

The open Caribbean has been rebuilt from the ground up technically. This includes ray-traced lighting and reflections, micropolygon rendering, revised water physics, dynamic weather and fewer interruptions when entering larger cities.

New Game Plus and progression

From Oct 27, 2026, New Game Plus allows up to five more playthroughs with rising difficulty. Edward keeps weapons, tools, equipment and money. Upgrades to the Jackdaw, the hideout and the Kenway fleet also largely carry over.

The campaign, ongoing contracts, quest items, map reveals and captured forts, by contrast, start over. Officers must be recruited again. In the later playthroughs, you can unlock additional items with escudos.

Nightmare difficulty

The Nightmare mode raises the challenge regardless of New Game Plus. Enemies deal more damage, react faster and leave less time for parries. Stealth sections become more demanding, while damage increases at sea.

Difficulty levels for combat, stealth, naval battles and activities can be set separately. Ubisoft also adds new execution animations that appear automatically during matching attacks.
