Platforms
The expansion is planned for the existing Disney Dreamlight Valley platforms. Confirmed are PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, among others; the base game is also available on PlayStation and Apple Arcade.
Disney Dreamlight Valley is required to play.

Gameplay
The core new mechanic is transforming into a customisable sea creature. Players can swim above and below water and design fins, tails, ears and other Merfolk features.
Underwater areas can be decorated like other areas. Added to this are new gathering materials, catching fish directly at fishing spots and three island biomes around a distant kingdom.

The new story revolves around a lost old friend and the secrets of a long-forgotten kingdom. Along the way, players meet Milo Thatch from Atlantis, Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates of the Caribbean and Megara from Hercules.
The Keepsake Sea also includes 5,000 Moonstones.
