What is DOOM + DOOM II?

DOOM + DOOM II brings together the shooter classics from 1993 and 1994 in a joint re-release published in 2024. The campaigns remain focused on fast combat, keys, hidden paths and careful use of ammo. Among other things, presentation, controls and multiplayer features have been modernised.

The bundle also includes older expansion episodes and the campaign Legacy of Rust, developed specifically for this edition. Unlike DOOM (2016) or DOOM Eternal, this is not a reinterpretation of the story but a revised edition of the original games with additional content.

Community mods and restrictions

Compatible community content can be downloaded via the built-in mod browser. According to Bethesda, players can only upload their own mods on PC. The Nintendo Switch version only offers the Featured mods curated by id Software.

Since the second major update in January 2025, suitable mods are also supported in multiplayer matches. To do this, the host must enable the extension before the lobby, and every participating player must subscribe to the same mod. Bethesda names Vanilla DOOM, DeHackEd, MBF21 and BOOM as supported compatibility bases. Modding is therefore not limited to additional single-player maps.
