DreamWorks Shrek 2 Remastered

DreamWorks Shrek 2 Remastered is the reworked remake of the 2004 action-adventure. Shrek, Fiona, Donkey and other fairy-tale characters travel through Far Far Away. Players fight, solve puzzles and switch between characters with different abilities.

Aspyr develops and publishes the new version in collaboration with Universal.

DreamWorks Shrek 2 Remastered releases on Nov 10, 2026 for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Aspyr announced the modernized version on Oct 20, 2026. The PC version is published through Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The remake is a standalone game and not an expansion of the original 2004 game.

Shrek 2 Remastered is coming natively to Windows PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The PC version is sold through Steam and the Epic Games Store. Switch and Switch 2 get separate versions.

4K resolution is announced for supported platforms. On Switch 2, the stated spec applies to TV mode; for the original Switch, it does not.

The characters fight their way through stages from the fairy-tale land of Far Far Away and solve environmental puzzles. Attacks, throws and each hero's unique abilities are used. You can switch between Shrek, Fiona, Donkey and other characters at any time.

The adventure locations range from Shrek's swamp to the castle in Far Far Away. Some puzzles require the right character, while boss fights and enemy groups bring the action.

Shrek 2 Remastered requires Windows 10 or 11 64-bit on PC, 16 GB RAM and 12 GB of free storage. Steam lists an AMD Ryzen 5 5600 or Intel Core i5-12400F as the minimum processor. Listed graphics cards include Radeon RX 7600, RX 6700 XT, GeForce RTX 4060 or RTX 3060 Ti. DirectX 12 is required.

For higher settings, Steam recommends, among others, Ryzen 7 7700X, Core i5-14600K or Core i7-13700K, along with Radeon RX 7800 XT or GeForce RTX 4070.

Shrek 2 Remastered supports co-op for up to four players. The group can play together on one device, online, or with a mix of local and remote players.

The adventure can also be played alone. When playing together, participants can control different fairy tale characters and combine their abilities.

Aspyr modernizes the textures, user interface and cutscenes of the game. On suitable hardware, the remake supports resolutions up to 4K. The core story remains intact.

A new photo mode lets you take your own shots from the adventure. The remaster also includes a menu with unlockable cheats that open up additional game variants.

The Steam version offers German subtitles and on-screen text. According to Steam, full voice acting is available in English. The PC version also supports French, Italian, Spanish and Japanese subtitles, among others.
