What is Fading Echo?

Fading Echo is an action-adventure RPG by Emeteria, which builds its systems consistently around water, movement and elemental reactions. At its centre is One, a young Legend who travels through the broken Corel and can switch between human form and a liquid form.

The game world belongs to the so-called Echoverse: alternative realities change rules, paths and dangers. Instead of just working through fixed combat combos, Fading Echo connects exploration, platforming, puzzles and combat through the same physically acting systems.

Gameplay

One's ability to turn into water is more than a movement option. The liquid form is used to glide through narrow areas, build momentum and reach parts of the environment in other ways. In combat and puzzles, water and Æther powers meet lava, toxins and the Paradox corruption.

This creates reactions that can change enemies, paths and situations. The system is complemented by 3D platforming and distorted versions of the world, in which rules and dangers shift.

Water form and elemental reactions

The central system idea of Fading Echo is not to separate movement, combat and puzzles from one another. Water is at once One's alternative body form, a traversal tool and the starting point for reactions with other substances and forces.

This link is a permanent feature of the game: situations can change depending on which elements meet and which reality of the Echoverse is currently active. This makes the system combinations a core part of the game's identity rather than a single special attack.
