FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time

FANTASY LIFE i: The Girl Who Steals Time is a role-playing game about a self-determined life on a mysterious island. Between expeditions, battles and the story of a bone dragon, you gather materials, craft items and build a settlement.

The special twist is 14 professions that can be switched at any time. They combine activities like woodcutting and fishing with crafting, cooking and fighting.

FANTASY LIFE i was released on May 21, 2025 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. The standalone Nintendo Switch 2 Edition followed on Jun 5, 2025.

The mobile versions for iOS and Android were released on Aug 20, 2026. In Japan, the original console launch is dated May 22, 2025 due to the time difference.

The game has been released for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, iOS and Android. Compared with the Switch version, the Switch 2 Edition offers, among other things, higher resolution, a better frame rate and shorter loading times.

On iOS and Android, only a version with the content of the Digital Deluxe Edition is offered. There is no separately purchasable Deluxe upgrade pass.

The Switch 2 upgrade pass requires the Switch game and is not a standalone game. For cross-platform save data, LEVEL5 requires an Epic Games account.

You explore the island and the vast continent of Ginormosia, complete quests, and switch between gathering, crafting and fighting. Resources from one profession help with the next step, such as when mined ore is turned into a new weapon.

Apart from quests, you can build houses, lay out roads and rivers, and decorate rooms with furniture you craft yourself.

The Digital Deluxe Edition adds a mount, special weapons and costumes to the main game. The upgrade is an add-on and does not replace the base game.

Since December 2025, “The Sinister Broker Bazario's Schemes” has added extra content to the game for free. LEVEL5 has also announced “The Celestial Express” as a paid major expansion. Among other things, it is meant to expand the highest profession rank.

On Windows, FANTASY LIFE i requires at least 8 GB of RAM, 20 GB of free storage space, DirectX 12 and a graphics card on the level of a GeForce GTX 750 Ti with 2 GB. LEVEL5 lists the Intel Core i3-3225 among the processors.

For 1080p at around 60 frames per second on medium settings, the developer recommends roughly a GeForce GTX 1060 with 3 GB and an Intel Core i7-4770K.

The 14 so-called Lives are divided into combat, gathering and crafting professions. As a Paladin, Mercenary, Hunter or Mage, you go into battle. Mining, woodcutting, fishing and farming provide materials, while professions such as Blacksmith, Cook, Tailor, Carpenter and Alchemist turn them into equipment and everyday items.

You can switch professions at any time. This means a character is not locked into a single combat or crafting role.

An expedition with the archaeologist Edward leads to an abandoned island. Finding a dragon fossil sparks a journey in which you switch between the present and a time around 1,000 years ago.

The story links the fate of the former kingdom with the rebuilding of the island. Companions and new encounters open up further quests along the way.

On the island, you can place buildings, reshape the terrain and form paths and waterways. In your own house, you can swap furniture, wallpaper and floors.

Building is closely tied to professions: whoever gathers and processes materials can then craft new furnishings.

In combat, swords, bows and magic are used. Your playstyle depends on the profession you choose, such as melee as a Paladin or ranged as a Hunter.

The open landscape can be explored on foot, by swimming or on mounts. Additional enemies and materials await in the treasure groves.

Treasure groves are dungeons whose layout changes after each completion. They grow from special saplings on the island and offer replayable expeditions with enemies and rare materials.

You can explore these areas alone or together with others.

Online, up to four people can explore the island and go on adventures together. On Nintendo Switch, local wireless play is also available.

Family co-op allows two people to play with one game copy and two controllers on supported platforms. This mode is not available on iOS and Android. Family co-op cannot be combined with the regular online or local multiplayer mode at the same time.

FANTASY LIFE i supports German on-screen text. Other text languages include English, Japanese, French, Italian, Spanish, Korean, and traditional and simplified Chinese.
