What is Gran Turismo 7?

Gran Turismo 7 is the seventh numbered main entry in Polyphony Digital's racing series. The game combines the classic GT simulation with a large vehicle collection, tuning, licences, café menus, race events, Scapes and the competitive Sport mode.

The idea is to build your own garage from your first car and discover different eras and disciplines of car culture. The official product scope now includes more than 550 vehicles from over 70 manufacturers as well as 41 track locations with 121 layouts; both areas have been regularly expanded since release.

Platforms

Gran Turismo 7 is available natively for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The PS5 version additionally uses the adaptive triggers and haptic feedback of the DualSense controller, faster SSD loading times, 3D audio, and 4K and HDR output with a target frame rate of 60 FPS.

On PS5, PlayStation VR2 can also be used optionally. Update 1.29 brought VR support for almost all races and game modes; the only exception is local two-player split screen. The further developed racing AI Gran Turismo Sophy is also only available in the PS5 version.

Gameplay

Main progression runs through the GT Campaign: buy, collect and tune cars, complete licences, and unlock new tasks and vehicle groups via café menu books. In addition, there are Arcade races, driving school, missions, track experience, Scapes photography and online competitions in Sport mode.

The tracks combine real racing circuits with classic Gran Turismo courses such as Trial Mountain, Deep Forest and High Speed Ring. Dynamic weather conditions are part of the race flow on selected tracks. On PS5, Gran Turismo Sophy enhances the AI opponents; since version 2.1, Sophy can also be used in custom races on supported tracks.

Spec IV Part 1 is announced for October 15, 2026. Permanently added are the Japanese circuit Sportsland SUGO, six vehicles, six new events for the World Circuits section, as well as new options in the vehicle viewer and an Experience mode. The six announced cars are Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo, Ferrari F355 Berlinetta '94, Honda Civic Si Group A '87, Mazda RX-Vision GT3 Evo '26, Honda Step WGN Spada Premium Line '23 and Citroën 2 CV 6 Charleston '86. The content requires no additional paid expansion, but vehicles may require in-game credits.

Since December 4, 2025, there has also been a paid Power Pack exclusively for the PS5 version. It includes 50 races in 20 categories, full race weekends, long-distance events with a 24-hour format, Gran Turismo Sophy 3.0 and five million in-game credits.

System requirements

A PC version of Gran Turismo 7 has not been announced, so there are no classic PC system requirements. Online races require PlayStation Plus. Many features of the game also require an internet connection.

PlayStation VR2 is optional and only works with the PS5 version. If you use the PS4 disc on PS5, the upgrade path requires a PS5 with a disc drive.

Vehicle selection and new tracks

Gran Turismo 7's vehicle selection ranges from historic production cars to racing classics and concept vehicles. The October 2026 Spec IV update highlights this range with a mix of a 1980s Citroën, a 1990s Ferrari, a classic Honda touring car, a family van and two new GT concept cars from Xiaomi and Mazda.

With Sportsland SUGO, the track network gains a real Japanese circuit. Six additional World Circuits races and new vehicle views expand the existing game system. The second part of Spec IV is planned for December 2026.
