Monopoly Plus
Monopoly Plus brings the classic board game to digital play for up to six players. Alongside the familiar game board, an animated 3D city is available to choose. House rules and the fast dice variant change the pace of play. Developed by Asobo Studio and published by Ubisoft, the game came out for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and later for PC.

What is Monopoly Plus?
Monopoly Plus turns the well-known board game into a digital game for one to six players. Buying streets, collecting rent, trading properties and building houses are at the centre. The rules follow classic Monopoly. An animated city brings buildings and game pieces to life on a three-dimensional board.
Alternatively, the familiar flat game board can be played. The digital version guides the players through dice rolls, property transfers and money movements, while the decisions stay with them. The original console game was developed by Asobo Studio, and the PC version was implemented by Ubisoft Pune. Ubisoft publishes the game under license from Hasbro.

Release
Monopoly Plus was first released for Xbox One on Nov 25, 2014. The PlayStation 4 version followed in Germany on Dec 3, 2014. The Xbox 360 version came out in Europe in December 2014 and in North America in January 2015. The European launch for PlayStation 3 followed in January 2015. The PC launch on Steam took place on Sep 7, 2017.
The game was also part of the Monopoly Family Fun Pack, which additionally includes My Monopoly and Monopoly Deal. The pack is a collection of several games and expansions, not a standalone platform version of Monopoly Plus. In 2024, Ubisoft also released a newer Monopoly game, which should not be confused with Monopoly Plus.
The PC version can currently no longer be newly purchased on Steam. The Steam product page still lists the game with its features and system requirements.

Platforms
Monopoly Plus was released natively for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC. On Xbox Series X and Series S, the Xbox One version is offered via backward compatibility. This is not a standalone Xbox Series version.
The PC version came out on Steam in 2017. It requires a linked Ubisoft account and uses Denuvo. Monopoly for Nintendo Switch, released in 2017, is a different console game. That is why Switch is not one of the native platforms of the five original Monopoly Plus versions.

Gameplay
Tokens move across a square board after dice rolls. Players who land on unowned streets can buy them. With colour groups, houses and hotels, the rents rise. Trading with other players and deciding when an investment is worth it shape the course of the game.
Monopoly Plus can optionally present the familiar board as an animated 3D city. Buildings, streets and tokens react to the progress of a game. If you prefer the clear overview of the classic board game, you can play in a flat view instead.

House rules and short games
Six selectable house rules change familiar routines. In addition, the variant with the Speed Die speeds up the rounds. This lets players adapt their games to their group without switching to a different board game.
The separate My Monopoly add-on lets you design the board yourself. This includes editable street names, themes and additional buildings for the 3D environment. These design features are not the same as the base content of Monopoly Plus.

Together on screen or online
Monopoly Plus supports games with up to six players on the same device and in online multiplayer. On Xbox One, local and online games are planned for two to six participants. On PlayStation 4, up to six players can play locally. Online games on this console require a matching PlayStation Plus membership.
The PC version supports local multiplayer and online games. Steam also lists Remote Play Together, so players can share a local game mode through the Steam feature. Which online features are available depends on the platform and its services.

PC system requirements
Monopoly Plus requires at least 4 GB RAM and 2 GB free storage on Windows PCs. Ubisoft lists an Intel Core i3-550 with 3.0 GHz or AMD Phenom II X4 945, a GeForce GTX 460 v2 or Radeon HD 7750, and DirectX 11. For the recommended setup, it lists 8 GB RAM, an Intel Core i5-2400 or AMD FX-4320, and a GeForce GTX 680 or Radeon R7 260X.
Steam originally listed Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 in the requirements and, for today's Steam client, refers to Windows 10 or newer. The PC version also requires a Ubisoft account.

Monopoly Plus, My Monopoly and later games
Monopoly Plus is the digital version of the classic board game. My Monopoly is an add-on for designing your own boards. Monopoly Deal, on the other hand, is a standalone card game that was available together with the other two products in the Monopoly Family Fun Pack.
The different editions should not be confused: later titles such as Monopoly Madness or Ubisoft's new Monopoly offer their own game concepts and are not additional platform versions of Monopoly Plus.
