Spirit Crossing

Spirit Crossing is a shared online adventure game from Spry Fox, the studio behind Cozy Grove. In the Crosslands, people meet spirits. Players explore an open world, build houses and shape their everyday lives together. Rather than competition, the focus is on how fleeting encounters turn into friendships.

The world can be explored without a fixed group. Many activities, though, offer chances to team up with others, from fishing to building a shared home together.

Spirit Crossing launches on Nov 16, 2026 for PC, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The PC version is offered via Steam and Epic Games Store. Spry Fox announced the date at the end of October with a new trailer.

Before the full release, the game ran in test versions. The regular launch is separate from those.

Spirit Crossing launches natively for Windows PC, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. There are separate software versions for the two Nintendo systems. Nintendo confirms that save data and additional content cannot be transferred between Switch and Switch 2.

The Switch 2 version supports online groups of up to 100 people. A stable internet connection is required. Earlier iOS and Android versions with Netflix sign-in have been unplayable since October 2026. The November date does not apply to a new mobile version.

Players glide through the air, climb across the landscape, collect resources and encounter unusual spirits. Houses, clothing and shared spaces can be customized. If you like, spend time with others fishing, painting a shared mural or sitting by the campfire.

The game rewards calm exploration and small shared actions, rather than prescribing a sequence of battles.

For Windows, Steam lists at least Windows 10 22H2, an Intel Core i3-8100 or AMD Ryzen 3 3100, 8 GB RAM and a GTX 1050, RX 560, Iris Xe or Vega 8. You need 3 GB of storage and a broadband connection.

Recommended: Windows 11, a Core i5-12400 or Ryzen 5 5600, 16 GB RAM and an RTX 3070 or RX 6700 XT.

The Crosslands are divided into villages. A village has several smaller housing communities, known as Waystations, plus a village center and an environment to explore together. A village is assigned when you start. Friends can move in together using invite codes.

The Waystation serves as a personal meeting place and shared living space. There, housemates can leave something even when others are not online.

Strangers first appear as shadows. Greetings and shared activities make their shape visible. As familiarity grows, the friendship system unlocks new ways to connect. Players decide for themselves how open they want to be to invitations and shared activities.

No one has to join a group: quiet exploration without conversation is also intended.

Spirit Crossing offers gestures and chat for nearby players. Text communication with others is unlocked through the friendship system after getting to know each other. Shared housing also offers options to leave messages for housemates.

Players can mute, block or report contacts. The social design is meant to work for people who don't want to talk or write all the time.

Players can set up and expand their own retreats. Furniture, plants, rugs, lamps and other decorations create different interior styles. Hairstyles, colors, clothing and gestures give characters a personal touch.

Shared building projects give neighborhoods a longer-term goal. They are not tied to a competitive mode.

Along the way, players meet lost spirits and other unusual residents. Some need help, others company. Through exploration and small tasks, their stories gradually unfold.

Spirits and landscape form the narrative framework, without a linear single-player campaign at the center.

Spirit Crossing is an ongoing online game with smaller housing communities within a large game world. Nintendo lists online play sessions with up to 100 people for both Switch versions. An internet connection is required to play.

Online memberships and account terms depend on the respective platform.

Weather changes affect exploration. After a storm, a short rainbow phase can begin, in which players gain benefits when gathering and climbing. Anyone who sits down together by the campfire on such an occasion can benefit from it for longer.

These recurring moments give the residents of the Crosslands a reason to meet spontaneously.

Spirit Crossing offers German text. On Nintendo Switch 2, the store also lists English, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Chinese and Polish. The PC version includes further regional language variants.

Chat, gestures and individually adjustable contact options determine communication. A fully voiced German dialogue version has not been announced.

Spirit Crossing is a paid game, not a free-to-play title. The one-time purchase is meant to give permanent access to the full game content. Spry Fox also plans an optional monthly Cozy Club membership.

The Cozy Club offers cosmetic customization for the flying companion animal, exclusive badges and a limited resource exchange. Membership is not required to explore the game world or play with others.
