Train Sim World 5

Train Sim World 5 is a railway simulator from Dovetail Games. The Standard Edition combines three core routes – West Coast Main Line, Frankfurt–Fulda and San Bernardino Line – with drivable trains, timetables and a revamped Training Center. Players can run regular services, roam routes freely and take on other railway tasks through additional modes.

Train Sim World 5 was released on Sep 17, 2024 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. At launch, Dovetail released Standard, Deluxe, Special and Regional Editions. Since Sep 15, 2026, Train Sim World 5 is no longer part of Xbox Game Pass; compatible add-ons you bought can still be used in Train Sim World 7.

Native versions are available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. PlayStation offers separate digital PS4 and PS5 versions; older consoles partly receive adjusted timetables and layers due to their hardware. Dovetail launches on the same day for Xbox, PlayStation, Steam and Epic.

Train Sim World 5 simulates regular train services on detailed routes with drivable multiple units and locomotives. The revamped Training Center includes playable tutorials as well as written and video help on the basics and signalling. Free Roam, timetables and scenarios complement the guided introductions.

The Standard Edition includes the three core routes West Coast Main Line, Frankfurt–Fulda and San Bernardino Line. Deluxe and Special Editions add more trains and compatible existing routes. Dovetail released numerous route, loco and gameplay add-ons for Train Sim World 5; compatible content from earlier Train Sim World versions can be transferred into your collection.

Steam lists at least a Core i5-4690 or Ryzen 5 1500X, 8 GB RAM, a GeForce GTX 750 Ti or Radeon RX 460 with 2 GB VRAM and 35 GB storage. Recommended are 16 GB RAM, a Core i5-9600K or Ryzen 5 3600, and an RTX 2060 with 6 GB or Radeon RX 5700 with 8 GB and 80 GB storage.

The Conductor Mode turns the ticket inspector role into a playable role of its own. On supported journeys, players check tickets, operate doors, clear luggage from the aisles and give the driver the departure signal. Dovetail integrated the mode directly into selected timetabled services on the three core routes.

Route Hopping connects compatible routes that share the same geographic point, without returning to the main menu. Fast Travel speeds up travel to stations, while the Live Map shows trains, stations and upcoming services in real time. These features work together especially well when several matching route add-ons are installed.

Train Sim World 5 is part of an ongoing content library. Many previously purchased compatible routes and vehicles can still be used in TSW5. After the launch of Train Sim World 7 on Sep 15, 2026, compatible add-ons that players own can be used in the newer version again; the three core TSW5 routes, however, are not transferred automatically if they were only played via Game Pass.
