Trine 6: Together in Time

Trine 6: Together in Time is a cooperative fantasy puzzle platformer by Frozenbyte. Up to four players combine the abilities of five different heroes to overcome obstacles, fight enemies and explore a fairytale world. It can also be played solo.

Two new puzzle modes with different focuses: Classic requires targeted character switching and cooperation, while Freestyle places more emphasis on alternative solutions and your preferred character. The title is still before its release.

The currently planned release date is March 4, 2027. The developers have moved the previous date from September 2026.

The game is announced for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo is releasing separate native versions for Switch and Switch 2. On PC, Steam and GOG are confirmed as distribution platforms, among others.

Trine 6 switches between platforming sections, physics-based obstacles and combat. Heroes use their individual tools to move objects, cross chasms and open paths. Hidden paths lead to rewards for progressing.

Steam lists at least Windows 10 (64-bit), 16 GB RAM, a Ryzen 3 3200G or Core i3-10100, and a GTX 1050 Ti or Radeon RX 570. DirectX 12 and 10 GB of storage are required. Recommended are, among others, RTX 3060 or RX 6600. Details may still change before launch.

After a botched theft, Moira and Adrius get caught up in a magical crisis. Together with Amadeus, Zoya and Pontius they travel through a fairytale world to stabilize the out-of-control magic and stop a dangerous mage.

Amadeus summons objects and moves them with magic, Zoya shoots arrows and swings on a rope, Pontius uses a hammer and shield. New are Moira with acrobatic moves and Adrius, who also uses his spear as a tool for getting around.

In Classic Puzzle Mode, obstacles require targeted use of different abilities and more frequent character switching. Freestyle relies more on open solutions with preferred characters. Both approaches work solo and in co-op. Switching during play remains possible without losing overall progress.

The campaign supports one to four players. Local multiplayer and online co-op are announced, as is cross-platform play together. Solo players get adjustable puzzles that should be solvable without additional players.

All five heroes receive a slow-motion ability. It gives more room for timing jumps, dodges and puzzles. Unlike individual weapons or spells, this utility is available to the whole team.

In combat, the heroes must dodge attacks, read enemies with different traits and find openings for counterattacks. Boss fights are also meant to combine movement, timing and the heroes' abilities. Combat difficulty can be adjusted independently of puzzle mode.

The five characters have different abilities that can be expanded during the adventure. Besides the core skills, explorable levels are said to offer extra rewards. According to the developer, several planned character abilities were reworked after playtesting so the heroes stay clearly distinct.

Puzzle mode, combat difficulty and character selection rules are separate options. This lets you combine Classic puzzles with easier combat, or allow the same character multiple times in multiplayer. When switching puzzle mode within a level, the section reloads from the last checkpoint.

After playtesting in summer 2026, Frozenbyte decided to further develop the puzzle design for two different solving styles. In addition, camera control in local and online co-op, tutorials for new players and multiplayer stability are to be improved. This work is announced for the version that has not yet been released.
