Gameplay

With Destruction 2.0, players can damage cover, break through walls and bring buildings down. Fights change the environment you can move through.

Tanks, off-road vehicles and helicopters originally supplemented the battles on foot. In multiplayer, soldiers coordinated in four-person squads and fought in modes including Rush and Conquest. The official online mode is no longer available today.

DLCs and expansions

System requirements

The Windows version at the time required at least a dual-core processor at 2 GHz, 2 GB RAM, a GeForce 7800 GT or Radeon X1900, and around 15 GB of free storage. A GeForce GTX 260 or Radeon HD 4870 was listed as stronger graphics hardware.

This information dates from the time of release. It does not guarantee that old installation media and activation systems will work on a modern Windows PC without adjustment.

The details apply to Windows-PC (Anforderungen von 2010).

Are the multiplayer servers still online?

No. Electronic Arts shut down the official online services for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 on December 8, 2023. PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 are affected.

The single-player campaign is separate from this and can generally still be played offline. The Xbox 360 version's backward compatibility does not restore the EA servers that were shut down.

The single-player campaign

B-Company returns in a standalone story. Preston Marlowe and his comrades are drawn into a series of military firefights while on a mission against an impending superweapon. Alongside shootouts, vehicle sections and destructible locations define the campaign.

Unlike the original online mode, the campaign can still be played after the EA servers were shut down. On older PC editions, however, installation and activation may come with additional technical requirements.

The smartphone versions

Alongside the major PC and console versions, versions for iOS and Android also appeared. The iPhone version was released on December 16, 2010. Digital Legends Entertainment was responsible for the mobile adaptation.

The mobile games have their own technical basis and a different scope. They should not be confused with a full port of the PC version.
