Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 is an action game by CyberConnect2. You follow Tanjiro Kamado through the events after the first game and fight with familiar characters from the anime series. Besides the story campaign, there is a Versus mode for duels.

Released Aug 5, 2025 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch in Europe. Steam also lists Aug 5, 2025. SEGA gives Aug 6 as the PC launch date in some regions. Buyers of the Digital Deluxe Edition could play from Aug 1.

The game has been released for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. The Xbox version supports Smart Delivery; on PlayStation, switching between PS4 and PS5 is possible for the relevant digital editions without an additional purchase. A standalone Switch 2 version has not been announced.

Battles rely on quick actions, evasive maneuvers, special techniques and the interplay of the selected characters. In duels you face other characters, while staged battles in the story recreate key encounters from the anime. The focus is on immediate action rather than open-ended role-playing development.

The paid Infinity Castle Character Pass expands Versus mode with seven playable characters or versions of well-known characters: Kaigaku, Zenitsu Agatsuma, Akaza, Tanjiro Kamado, Giyu Tomioka, Shinobu Kocho and Doma. The character packs are also available individually. They expand the fighter selection, not the main story.

For the PC version, at least Windows 10, an Intel Core i5-3470 or AMD Ryzen 3 1200, 6 GB RAM, a GeForce GT 640 or Radeon HD 7950 and 30 GB storage are required. For 1080p with high details at 60 frames per second, Steam lists a Core i5-4570 or Ryzen 5 1400, 8 GB RAM and a GeForce GTX 760 or Radeon RX 470.

In single-player mode you replay events around the Entertainment District, the Swordsmith Village and the Pillars' training. The campaign combines battles with story scenes and encounters with the demons Tanjiro and his companions face.

In Versus mode, two players compete against each other, locally or online. Over 40 playable characters are available, including all nine Hashira and several Upper Rank Demon Moons. You can use different character pairings and their shared special attacks. Online duels on consoles require a subscription to the respective platform service.

Playable characters include Tanjiro Kamado and the nine Hashira. Fighters differ in their special attacks and animations. The additional Infinity Castle characters expand the selection with variants from the later storyline of the anime series.

The PC version supports German menus and subtitles. Voice audio is available in English and Japanese. Steam also lists French, Italian, Spanish and Korean, among others, for on-screen text.

The Standard Edition includes the main game. The Digital Deluxe Edition includes additional unlocks, costumes and voices for Versus mode. The Infinity Castle Character Pass, sold separately, expands the character list after launch. The additional content does not replace the main game.

On Steam, the game offers achievements, cloud saves, local duels on a shared screen and online PvP. The PC version supports German subtitles and uses Denuvo Anti-Tamper. An internet connection is required for online duels.

SEGA shows both the campaign and the characters from the Swordsmith Village Arc in official videos. The trailer for Yoriichi Type Zero and Kotetsu introduces additional fighters and encounters.

Before a battle you can equip up to three items. They can, for example, increase resistance to poison or gradually regenerate life energy. Certain character pairs also share Dual Ultimates: these special attacks are stronger than regular Ultimate Arts and depend on the chosen combination.

In Training Paths mode, the Hashira challenge you in tournament rounds with changing win conditions. The Path of a Demon Slayer lets you replay key battles from the story, from the predecessor up to the Mugen Train Arc. Fighting also raises Character Mastery, which unlocks things like new images and stickers for your online profile.
