What is DRAGON BALL Z: KAKAROT?
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is an action RPG by CyberConnect2. Rather than just recreating individual duels, it follows the major story arcs of the anime series: from the Saiyan Saga through Freezer and Cell to the fight against Boo. Players move through expansive areas, meet familiar characters and also experience quieter moments between battles.
Exploration, side missions, training and character progression complement the staged boss battles. The game was released in 2020 and later expanded with additional stories and native versions for newer consoles.

Standalone native versions exist for PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The newer PlayStation and Xbox versions are technically optimised native editions; the 2020 releases remain separate generations.
On Nintendo Switch 2 the Switch version is playable. Bandai Namco lists this as compatibility, not as a separate native Switch 2 release.

Combat system, training and character building
Goku and other playable characters level up through experience points and improve their super attacks and skills. In combat, ranged and melee attacks, ki management, dodging and blocking alternate. Support from allies becomes especially important in larger encounters.
The battles recreate famous confrontations, while training and activities beyond the main missions permanently strengthen the characters. This makes the title a story action RPG rather than a pure arena brawler.
