What is ECC: REDLINE?

ECC: REDLINE is an announced free-to-play online shooter from Galaxy Studio under the NetEase Games umbrella. The competition is staged as a fictional Extreme Circuit Championship: teams of four athletes compete in arenas, fight for equipment and key positions, and must cope with a shrinking safe zone.

The concept combines battle royale tension with deliberately acrobatic movement, individual character abilities and an economy within the ongoing match. The official information so far describes the planned game and not a live service that has already launched.

Release

NetEase has not yet announced a release date for the full version. Steam lists the game as “Coming soon” and already allows adding it to the wishlist. An announced, time-limited test is not the same as the regular release.

The game is marked on Steam as free to play. The store listing names in-app purchases and interactive online features; which content and prices the final monetization model includes cannot yet be derived from this. Accordingly, there is currently no reliable date or period that could be stated as the initial release.

Platforms

The Windows PC version on Steam is the only officially announced release. A store feature list mentions cross-platform multiplayer, but it does not replace a separate announcement or store page for PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, iOS or Android. Therefore no other native versions are listed here as confirmed.

For PC, NetEase lists Windows 10 or Windows 11 as the operating system. Whether the game will later come to additional platforms remains open.

Gameplay

Movement is part of the attack tactics. Athletes combine sprinting and sliding with grappling hook maneuvers, wall jumps and precise shooting. Height differences, alleys and flanks create different attack routes. As the safe zone shrinks, teams must find new positions and upgrade their equipment.

NetEase explains that being eliminated does not necessarily mean the end of the match: under certain conditions, athletes can return from a special state or get back into the action through teammates. How exactly this mechanic will be balanced in the finished game cannot be reliably judged before release.

Athletes and team composition

The basic squad consists of four people. The selectable athletes have different abilities that are meant to complement each other: NetEase mentions protective functions, support for injured teammates and fast advances with grappling movements. This creates a role mix in which positioning and the interplay of abilities can be important for the outcome of a fight.

A complete list of all characters, their cooldowns or binding matchmaking rules is not yet available on the official Steam page. Specific team builds or a ranking of the supposedly strongest athletes are therefore premature.

Equipment during the match

Kills and completed objectives earn credits during a round. These can be used to buy equipment, upgrade weapons and reinforce armor, without waiting for the next match. Teams therefore decide continuously whether to spend their resources immediately or hold them back for a later stage.

NetEase also promises that weapons can be changed through parts, optics and grip configurations. These are announced systems, with no statement about their later balance or whether all equipment options will be available to every player from the start.

Languages and online features

The store lists online PvP, online co-op, cross-platform multiplayer and in-app purchases as features. For the interface, voice audio and subtitles, English, simplified and traditional Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese and Latin American Spanish are currently listed. German is not listed.

This information reflects the state of the store listing. Support for further languages or specific online modes after the regular launch is therefore neither confirmed nor ruled out.
