What is Grounded 2?
Grounded 2 is a survival adventure about teens who were shrunk to insect size in a park. Blades of grass become obstacles, discarded everyday objects become building materials and resources, and beetles become powerful enemies or mounts.
The game combines exploring an open world with crafting, base building and an ongoing story. The plot and game world continue Grounded, but take place in the larger Brookhollow Park.

Brookhollow Park
Brookhollow Park consists of interconnected landscapes and everyday human places that seem huge from the perspective of shrunken teens. Playgrounds, gardens, water areas and winding hiding spots bring different resources and insect species.
The later-added areas change more than just the map. They open up new resources, building projects and paths that require special equipment.

Travel through the park with insects
Rideable insects, known as buggies, serve as transport and combat helpers in Grounded 2. Depending on the type, they can attack enemies or help with work. These include the combative ladybug variant, the amphibious Toe Biter and a potato beetle with a gun turret.
The creatures expand expedition planning: a buggy that fights well on land doesn't need the same strengths as a water-capable companion.

Online co-op and crossplay
Grounded 2 can be played solo or online with up to four players. Players on PC, Xbox Series and PS5 can team up via crossplay. This requires linking a free Xbox account to your respective game account.
Shared Worlds let invited friends continue a shared world without the original host having to be online at all times. Local splitscreen mode is not planned.

Bases on land and underwater
In Grounded 2, you can build and furnish your own outposts from gathered materials. Alongside workbenches, storage spots and shelters, underwater bases have also been possible since the Into the Abyss expansion.
The later Splotcher lets you color-customize selected building parts. This gives base building lasting extra options without replacing the survival element.

Into the Abyss and the pond
Into the Abyss opened the pond and its underwater areas in August 2026. With diving gear, the teens reach sunken passages and new find locations. Underwater there are their own creatures, and the Toe Biter buggy can both swim and travel on land.
The expansion also adds new options for underwater bases and extra progression paths. As a result, the pond has become a standalone exploration area.

Rot and Ruin: Log pile and new enemies
Rot and Ruin has expanded Brookhollow Park with the Log Pile and extra insect enemies since Oct 20, 2026. These include termites and a large centipede boss. A potato beetle buggy adds options for combat and exploration.
New equipment, resources and building options for bases add to the existing survival world. New combat techniques include a dodge that costs no damage or stamina when timed perfectly.

Custom game modes with Playgrounds
With Playgrounds, players can design their own challenges and game rules in Grounded 2. A visual builder combines triggers, random events and creature spawners. This lets you create custom arenas, puzzles or obstacle courses.
The tools extend the regular survival mode with player-made experiences. They also suit groups who want to experiment together outside the normal story.
