Marvel's Avengers

Marvel's Avengers is an action-adventure with a single-player campaign and co-op missions. As Kamala Khan, you try to reunite the superhero team after a catastrophe. Combat is played from the over-the-shoulder perspective, with different hero abilities.

Released September 4, 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Separate versions for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S followed on March 18, 2021. Official support and digital sales ended on September 30, 2023. Owners can keep playing the copies they already have.

Marvel's Avengers was released for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. The newer console versions improve loading times and visuals. A free upgrade was available within each console family. The game was not released for Nintendo Switch.

The Avengers fight with individual abilities and upgrade their gear between missions. Iron Man flies and attacks from range, while Hulk focuses on close combat. New gear affects the heroes' stats. Alongside the campaign, there are replayable missions.

Twelve different superheroes are available over the course of the campaign and later expansions. The original team includes Iron Man, Thor, Black Widow, Hulk, Captain America and Ms. Marvel. Later additions include Kate Bishop, Hawkeye, Black Panther and Winter Soldier.

Spider-Man can only be played on PlayStation.

The story can be played solo, and selected Warzone missions also support up to four players online. These missions include side objectives, hidden supplies and tougher enemies.

Crystal Dynamics announced that the multiplayer mode should remain playable after official support ended. A Square Enix account is required for online matches.

If you already own Marvel's Avengers, you can still download and play it. Since Sep 30, 2023, it is no longer sold as new in digital stores. The single-player campaign remains available. The co-op mode was also not shut down when support ended.

Crystal Dynamics, however, is not developing further content and does not guarantee fixes for future technical issues.

Since Mar 31, 2023, previously paid cosmetic items have been free for owners of the game. Credit sales have ended, and existing balances have been converted into in-game resources.

This includes outfits, emotes and finishers, among other things. The former real-money store has been shut down.

A disaster at the opening of the Avengers headquarters splits the superhero team apart. A few years later, Kamala Khan begins to question the events. She searches for the team members and confronts the organization AIM.

The standalone versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S were released in March 2021. They offer higher frame rates, improved graphics and shorter loading times. Upgrading from the older console version was free within the same platform family.

After release, more campaign chapters and playable heroes were added. Kate Bishop, Hawkeye and Black Panther received their own stories. Winter Soldier was the last additional hero added to the game.
