ONE PIECE: PIRATE WARRIORS 4

ONE PIECE: PIRATE WARRIORS 4 is an action game in the Musou style from Koei Tecmo Games. It combines characters and locations from One Piece with mass battles against large enemy groups.

Players follow Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates through key stories from the series. Instead of small arena fights, the focus is on large-scale battles, special attacks and taking control of battlefields.

The original version came out on March 27, 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. Native versions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2 followed on November 21, 2025.

Owners of the previous console versions were offered upgrades to the new generation. The 2025 versions improve graphics, loading times and the number of enemies shown on screen at once, among other things.

Native versions exist for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. The platform generations are listed separately because PS5, Xbox Series and Switch 2 received their own native releases.

The combat follows the Warriors formula: individual playable characters fight large enemy groups with long-range attacks and special techniques. Many attacks send enemies flying through the environment, while destructible elements and large battlefields make fights more dynamic.

Characters differ greatly in reach, mobility and special abilities. As a result, your character choice and moveset change how offensive, mobile or area-focused a battle plays out.

The game was expanded through several Character Passes and additional episodes. The Ultimate Edition bundles the base game, Character Pass 1 and 2, and the Additional Episodes Pack. Since 2025, Character Pass 3 has added more characters, including the Future Island Egghead Pack and the Special Selection Pack.

The DLC mainly adds playable characters, costumes and additional episodes or Soul Maps. The core gameplay remains unchanged.

On Windows, Steam lists at least a Core i5-3450 or Ryzen 3 1300X, 8 GB RAM, a GeForce GTX 660 or Radeon HD 7870, DirectX 11 and 25 GB storage. Recommended are a Core i7-3770 or Ryzen 5 1400, and a GeForce GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 580.

The campaign covers well-known stops from the One Piece story and follows Luffy and his allies across several islands and conflicts. The focus is on large battles with famous characters and enemies, rather than a faithful one-to-one retelling of every episode.

The versions released in 2025 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 are native versions, not just compatibility modes. Bandai Namco cites improved visuals, faster loading times and larger enemy swarms as the main technical changes.
