Platforms

The original game runs natively on Windows, macOS and Linux, as well as on PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. The Switch 2 Edition is a separate native release from November 2025. A PS5 or Xbox Series edition of the single game is not the same as the standalone collection Overcooked! All You Can Eat.

Gameplay

Every order requires ingredients to be fetched, prepared, cooked, plated and served. Work stations and walkways are limited, while new orders keep arriving. In the second game, chefs can throw ingredients across gaps and obstacles. This allows different division of labour than in the previous game, but it does not replace coordinated routines.

DLCs and expansions

The four large add-on packs are called Surf ’n’ Turf, Campfire Cook Off, Night of the Hangry Horde and Carnival of Chaos. They add new kitchens, recipes, chefs and, in some cases, their own gameplay mechanics. For example, Campfire Cook Off introduces portable ingredient backpacks, while Night of the Hangry Horde expands the horde mode with advancing enemies.

Dynamic kitchens and obstacles

The settings range from sushi restaurants and magic schools to mines and alien worlds. Moving platforms, teleporters and changing layouts force constant adjustments. Some kitchens temporarily split the team apart. The challenge comes from the layout of the space as much as from the pace of incoming orders.

The Onion Kingdom and the Unbreads

The campaign returns to the Onion Kingdom. After the events of the previous game, the so-called Unbreads threaten the land. The chefs travel an overworld, unlock new kitchens and must work together in increasingly complicated situations. The story provides the framework for the levels and is not a freely explorable role-playing game at the centre of the experience.

Gourmet Edition and other collections

The Gourmet Edition bundles Overcooked! 2 with the four major DLC packs and additional chefs. Team17 lists a total of 130 kitchens and 58 chefs for this bundle. If you already own individual expansions, check which content is included in the specific store version. All You Can Eat is different: it combines both main games in a separate collection.

Campaign, Versus, Survival and Horde

Alongside the regular campaign kitchens, Overcooked! 2 offers competitive Versus rounds. Free content updates introduced a Survival mode, in which completed orders add extra time. The expansion Night of the Hangry Horde adds horde levels, in which teams cook against advancing enemies. These modes change the goal of the game more than new kitchen decorations do.

Free seasonal content

Team17 added more kitchens and chefs to the base game through several free updates. These include themed events such as Chinese New Year, Winter Wonderland and the Spring Festival. The new recipes and kitchens are permanent additions to the existing game content and not a requirement for the paid major expansions.

Game series

The game was developed by Ghost Town Games and Team17 and published by Team17. It continues the cooperative cooking of Overcooked! and adds online play and throwing ingredients. Overcooked! All You Can Eat is by contrast a standalone collection with content from both main games, not the regular individual release of Overcooked! 2.
