What is PHYSINT?

PHYSINT is a new action espionage game from Hideo Kojima and KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS. The project was announced in early 2024 as a new original IP and aims to combine classic espionage action with a strongly cinematic presentation.

Since September 2026, KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS has been working with Xbox as the publishing partner for PHYSINT. The cast includes Bill Skarsgård in the lead role, along with Charlee Fraser, Don Lee and Minami Hamabe.

Release

PHYSINT has no release date or official release window yet. KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS first announced the action espionage project together with PlayStation on January 31, 2024.

In June 2026, PlayStation Studios ended the publishing partnership. The project itself was not cancelled: KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS looked for a new partner and confirmed Xbox as the new publisher in September 2026. PHYSINT remains in development.

Platforms

Xbox has been the publishing partner for PHYSINT since September 2026. KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS and Xbox have not yet published a specific list of target platforms.

A PlayStation version is currently neither confirmed nor explicitly ruled out. In September 2026, Hideo Kojima said the final platform strategy lies with Xbox and will be announced later. For this reason, no binding exclusivity can currently be inferred from the publishing change.

Gameplay

PHYSINT is being developed as a new action espionage game. KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS wants to blur the line between game and film more strongly and relies on modern technology, realistic visuals and a high-profile cast. Specific game systems or longer gameplay scenes have not been shown yet.

The cast is already a major part of the presentation. Charlee Fraser, Don Lee and Minami Hamabe were revealed in 2025. At Tokyo Game Show 2026, Bill Skarsgård was announced as the lead. Production has included costume fittings, scans and camera tests, among other things.
