What is RoadCraft?

RoadCraft is a simulation about rebuilding destroyed infrastructure. As the head of a salvage company, you send heavy machines into disaster zones, clear away debris and make roads, bridges, factories and supply routes usable again.

The game combines driving work machines with planning transport routes and material production. The missions allow for different solutions.

Gameplay

You start with blocked access roads and damaged industrial facilities. Bulldozers clear paths, cranes lift heavy loads, transporters bring vehicles to where they're needed, and road-building machines create new connections.

Only once supplies are working can more distant production sites be brought back online. The order of tasks is therefore just as important as the driving itself.

DLCs and expansions

The Rebuild Expansion adds two maps set in central European landscapes, five extra vehicles and more construction jobs. In Contamination, you clean up chemical contamination, while Wash-Out deals with restoring an industrial complex.

The Reclaim Expansion adds two areas and seven vehicles. Demolition and material recovery expand the work routines. The Year 1 Pass includes Rebuild and Reclaim.

The Foundations Expansion from Nov 3, 2026 adds two more maps, four new work machines and three vehicle variants. For the first time, you drive concrete piles and pour foundations for construction projects. Foundations is not part of the Year 1 Pass and is sold separately.

Disaster zones and maps

The base version offers eight maps with mountain regions, deserts and coastal areas. Abandoned factories, damaged dams and decommissioned solar plants are among the job sites.

The major expansions add more regions. In Foundations, construction projects take place in Spring Renewal, a Dutch-inspired landscape with fields and windmills, and Oasis Delta, an area hit by a tornado with harbour facilities, waterways and a large satellite dish.

Machine park and tasks

More than 40 machines are available in the base version and in the progression system. Bulldozers clear space, heavy tractors bring material across rough terrain, and cranes move containers or other large parts.

For road building you use asphalt pavers and rollers, for example. Cable layers and transport vehicles are also needed to run the facilities.

Building roads and bridges

Paths don't appear at the push of a button. You prepare the ground, transport building materials to the work site and use suitable machines to lay new roads. Bridges and other connections open up previously cut-off areas.

The finished infrastructure directly affects how reliably later transports reach their destinations.

Resources and transport chains

Wood, steel and cement can be recovered from salvaged remains or produced in reactivated plants. These materials become components for further construction contracts.

You assign routes on the map to supply vehicles. Blocked access roads and impassable roads interrupt supplies until you improve the route.

Terrain and material physics

Vehicles move and work with different materials such as sand, wood and asphalt. The mass and size of objects affect how cranes, transporters and construction vehicles handle them.

Changed terrain and newly built roads remain relevant for the subsequent work steps.

Online co-op for four players

Up to four players can work together on the same map. The group divides tasks, takes over machines or pools their strength for large construction projects. RoadCraft supports cross-platform play, joining and leaving mid-game, and integrated voice chat.

When joining, you can sync your progress with the host or continue as a guest.

Building foundations with the Foundations Expansion

In the Foundations Expansion, you prepare construction sites with concrete piles and build foundations for new buildings and facilities. The ALCES PL30C caterpillar pile driver sets the piles, while concrete mixers and concrete pumps bring material to the site and distribute it.

Four new machines handle pile driving, mixing, pumping and lifting. Three variants of existing vehicle types are also added. The new materials pile and concrete add to the rebuilding transport chains.
