Gameplay

The holiday is experienced in daily stages. Shin-chan wanders through streets, gardens and fields, talks to villagers and helps with small tasks. He catches insects, goes fishing and discovers new places. Morning exercises, shared meals and time with the family give the day its rhythm.

The game tells its story between these recurring activities. The focus is on observing and exploring rather than fast combat or a simulation with complicated production chains.

Fish, insects and photo diary

Caught fish and insects go into their own collections. Shin-chan also keeps a picture diary that records events from everyday holiday life. A local newspaper briefly makes him a junior reporter: he looks for news and has his experiences published as articles.

These activities repeatedly lead back to familiar locations. Their purpose is not merely to extend playtime; they link exploration with the town's small stories.

The Professor's secret

On the way to the holiday town, Shin-chan meets an unusual man who lends him a strange camera. Soon a giant figure appears, and the Professor turns out to be part of a secret that goes far beyond an ordinary summer holiday.

The adventure combines the familiarity of the Shin-chan characters with fantastical events. It tells its own story, which remains understandable without the later sequel Shiro and the Coal Town.
