THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV

THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV is a fighting game from SNK in which teams of three fighters face off against each other. Your selection determines which abilities are available during a match. Attacks, blocks, throws and combos decide the outcome of duels.

The story mode brings together fighters from several parts of the series. There is also training, various online battles and a gallery.

THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV was released on February 17, 2022 for Windows PC, PS4, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. On PC, it is available through Steam, Epic Games Store and the Microsoft Store.

THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV is available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Owners of the PS4 version can upgrade to the PS5 version. No standalone version was released for Xbox One.

Since June 2023, players can play against each other online on the platforms mentioned.

Battles in THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV are fought by two teams of three fighters each. When one fighter is knocked out, the next steps in. Special attacks, throws and combos rely on careful timing and the use of available resources.

With Shatter Strike, players can counter enemy attacks. MAX Mode and MAX Mode (Quick) open up additional offensive options. The Rush function makes simple combos easier by repeatedly pressing an attack button.

THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV offers 61 playable fighters in total with the Ultimate Edition. Of these, 41 belong to the expanded base roster, and another 20 come from paid character packs. Two additional costumes are also included in the edition.

The expansions include Team Garou, Team South Town, Team Awakened Orochi, Team Samurai, the Fighter Pass and the characters Mature and Vice, among others. Goenitz was added for free in 2023.

THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV requires at least 8 GB RAM and 65 GB of free storage on PC. Steam lists an Intel Core i5, a GeForce GTX 770 or Radeon R9 280, and DirectX 11. 16 GB RAM and a GeForce GTX 1060 or Radeon RX 480 are recommended.

The Steam client has required Windows 10 or later since 2024.

The Deluxe Edition of THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV includes the main game and Team Pass 1 with six additional fighters. The Ultimate Edition adds further character passes, Mature and Vice, and two costumes.

Players who only own the base game can buy individual character packs separately.

THE KING OF FIGHTERS XV has supported crossplay between PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S since June 20, 2023. Steam and Epic Games players can play against each other, as can owners of different console versions.

Rollback netcode is designed to keep inputs responsive in online duels. Besides ranked matches, there are casual matches, private rooms and shared training. In Draft Versus mode, opponents take turns picking fighters for their teams.
