What is Assassin's Creed Valhalla: The Siege of Paris?
The Siege of Paris is the second major story expansion for Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Eivor travels to the 9th-century Frankish realm, gets caught in the conflict between Viking leaders and King Charles the Fat, and infiltrates the fortified city of Paris. Open assassination missions bring back classic stealth mechanics from earlier Assassin's Creed games.

Paris and the Frankish realm
The new map shows the Frankish realm with the fortified capital Paris, its surroundings and the Seine. Eivor travels river courses, villages and militarily controlled areas. The city is shaped by guards, walls and narrow streets, while rural locations and enemy camps lie outside.

Plot and historical figures
The Viking leaders Siegfried and Toka bring Eivor into the Frankish realm. Their war against King Charles also calls into question the safety of settlements in England. Talks, alliances and attacks determine how Eivor gets involved in the conflict. The Bellatores Dei conspiracy brings further enemies beyond the open siege.

Open assassinations and alternative routes
The open infiltration missions set a goal but leave the path there up to the players. Tavern tips, stolen orders, hidden entrances and disguises can open alternative routes. Some missions can be solved with an unnoticed attack, others with open force. In this way the missions build on the black box structure of older Assassin's Creed games.

Rat swarms as a game mechanic
Rat swarms are an additional danger in parts of the game world. Eivor can drive the animals away for a short time, but not eliminate them permanently. If drains are opened, swarms can even be lured onto enemies. This changes the animals' routes and combat situations, especially in narrow underground areas.
