What is Dragon Quest Heroes: Torneko's Mystery Dungeon -Classic HD-?
Dragon Quest Heroes: Torneko's Mystery Dungeon -Classic HD- is the modernized version of Torneko's Great Adventure: Mystery Dungeon, the first game in the Mystery Dungeon series, released in Japan in 1993. It centers on Torneko from Dragon Quest IV, who searches for a legendary treasure and uses the items he finds to expand his own shop.
The Classic HD version brings the game officially to modern platforms internationally for the first time. The core design deliberately stays classic: randomly generated dungeons, turn-based movement and losing collected loot after a defeat define every new attempt.

Gameplay
Every step counts as a turn: when Torneko moves, the monsters react too. Dungeons change layout, enemies and found items each time you enter. Torneko starts new expeditions again at level 1, gathers experience, equipment and consumables along the way, and must decide how far to push the risk of another floor.
If Torneko is defeated, the items collected in that run are lost. This creates the classic rhythm of exploration, resource management, positioning and the question of when the safe return with loot is worth it.

Torneko's shop as permanent progress
If Torneko safely reaches the exit with loot, the items found flow into his merchant shop. As the business grows, the ability to store equipment and items between expeditions increases. This meta progression counterbalances the fact that each dungeon run starts again at level 1 in terms of gameplay.

Game series
The story takes place after the events of Dragon Quest IV and centers on the merchant Torneko. The original from 1993 is considered the first part of the Mystery Dungeon series and established core rules that were later further developed in other Torneko, Shiren and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games, among others.
Classic HD makes this early form of the system playable officially outside Japan for the first time, while clearly placing it as part of the Dragon Quest family.
